DS is allergic to dairy, I think soy as well. He was getting diarrhea so we cut out soy milk. The diarrhea and stomach pains stopped. We have tried rice milk and he doesn't like it. So we tried oat milk, I'm not sure if that is causing the rash.
He did swimming lessons every day last week and I thought maybe that did it. But we have finished the lessons and the rash started in a new spot today.
Any ideas would be great as DS' allergies are driving me batty. I just wish I could with it all out.
What does the rash look like? Spots? Larger raised areas?

Little spots that cause him itching. They were on his back near his rib cage that caused him to get redness from the itching over his ribs. Then under his collar bone and small amount on the top of his back, bottom of tummy and upper arm today.
are you sure it is an allergy? andnot a heat rash or something? or a contact allergy rather than something he ingests?
I have no idea! It could be. How can I tell?
If its a contact rash, him wear long sleeves (light material of course) should help.
If to want to check if its the milk, find an area where there is no rash scratch the skin a little (not hurting, just like running a finger nail over.) then put a bit of milk in it. If it rashes its the milk causing it.
(That's a basic scratch test, an allergist would be able to tell for sure).
For myself I've avoided oat milk because I get hayfever rash/asthma from oat grass. I'm trying almond milk, starting this week.
Some fruits will do this also. I cannot eat stone fruit, oranges or pineapple & just found out shouldn't eat to many strawberries in one go as I now have the itches.
Rashes can be a bit tricky to identify. It may be heat rash, insect bites, a virus, or even just plain ole eczema. If you chat to your doctor about it, they might be able to suggest what type of rash it looks like. If it still seems to be allergies and it persists you could try an elimination diet or find out about getting ***** tests done.
My son had spots that turned nasty when he scratched and we were living in MIL's house. I took him to the doctor and the doc suggested a specialist if we were worried (no, I just thought I'd show you his legs and torso for kicks...), then said that if it were an insect they would never be able to tell what kind it was :rolleyes: I called a pest control person and he said if it were bed bugs we'd all have them. We did not. Same for fleas.
Eventually, I decided no more useless doctors and took him to a naturopath (which I had never been to, not even for myself, call me a skeptic!). Within 5 minutes he told me what it was and how to treat it.
In our case it was and still kind of is a sensitivity to salicylic acid - triggered by tomatoes and related products (especially concentrated ones) and apple peel. We cut them out and voila! The rash reduced. Being his favourite foods meant that it took a while to clear up because he was 4 at the time and couldn't help himself.
We phased tinned tomatoes out of our pantry and since then he can have the odd apple with peel, and even the odd tomato and some sauce with little effect, if any. He just has to moderate his intake.
If it's a big sensitivity then it may also translate into a sulphite sensitivity, ruling out garlic and onions, which would be a pain, but wasn't relevant in our case. I googled after going to the naturopath and it was consistent.
I'd give a nat a go, because doctors seem to automatically assume it's something complicated - unless you know one who doesn't do this!
