Does weaning make you emotional?
Hello!
I think I have weaned DS2, who is 21 months. It's been several days since he's had a breastfeed and he's not really complaining about it at all. But I am feeling really emotional. Not really about the fact that he's finished bf, but more hormonally emotional, I feel like I'm premenstrual - getting teary and upset over small things. I don't think I would actually *be* premenstrual yet, when I weaned DS1 it took 5 weeks for me to get af back. But would falling prolactin affect my emotions? Would it happen this quickly? His last bf was Saturday.
Does anyone know whether there are hormonal changes when you stop bf that would be making me feel like this? It would be reassuring to have a physical explanation for why I'm feeling so emotional.
Thanks! :)
Re: Does weaning make you emotional?
Yep. Breastfeeding gives you that lovely oxytocin rush and when you stop the oxy drops and you can feel a bit blue while ypu adjust.
Hope it passes soon for you *hugs*
