Where I work it is unfortunately really discouraged by the Ob's and alot of midwives but I personal am all for it and have cared for several woman having a VBA2C. I can't tell you the exact chance of having a vaginal birth as there are many variables like why you had past c/s etc. Alot of the times they tell you you will not have a choice but stand your ground and they can not make you consent to something you don't want.
I had one emergency due to fluid loss and endured labour. Second I tried for 10 hrs and only dilated 1 cm and had another section..
I had a VBA2C so its definitely possible with the right support. I had mine in an independent birth centre, however, the private OB I had before that was very supportive of them. Sometimes its worth looking around for who will give you the best opportunity.
BTW - if it helps, I had my first c-section in January 2007, my second in August 2008 and my VBA2C in November 2009. So very small age gaps :)
I am planning a VBA2C. I had my first c-section in Dec '06, and I was allowed a trial of labour in Nov '07 - less than 12 months between births. Unfortunately DS2 went into distress so it was another c-section. My OB is happy for me to VBA2C, and I've hired an extremely supportive doula. I have found it depends a great deal on the support you have around you, no one can force you to consent to a repeat c-section, but they can make it difficult for you to choose a VBA2C. Have a search around online - there are plenty of birth stories for VBAC's - some VBA4C!! Very inspiring! :)
You always have a choice :)
I'm having a VBAC this time and have been very clear about my feelings regarding their policies. You see, they have a policy of dialation at 1cm per hour. But the problem is that clashes with my policy of not being interfered with and having hands shoved in my vagina against my will when I'm trying to get into my zone. :D
Just make sure you tell them about YOUR no BS policy and they'll back off, lol.
My favourite line is "Unless it's medically indicated, I do not consent to (insert X intervention here)." eg- continuous monitoring, fetal scalp electrode, routine VE's, cannula just in case, (what, just in case I fail with the freaking circus you want to set up around me going on? Pffffft.....) Oh the list goes on and on. You just stare them down and repeat after me: I DO NOT CONSENT. :)
Thankyou.
Think I might look into it a bit more...I just don't like the idea of booking it in... I didn't mind trying and then having one because of medical reasons .. But not just to pick a date and book it in :) is that strange
I'm thinking of having my tubes tied so if I do have a section they can do that while there in there.
Hey forshelby. You're having another one? How's everything going and axel ?
Thankyou.

im currently getting together info on vbac for a talk im doing. and research ive found is there isnt much difference between vba1c and vba2c. its not until you get to 3 and 4 csec that stats cjange in terms of increased risk factors.
the biggest factor that determines success rates is support. bith professional and personal.
good luck!
Oh yes, I don't doubt that at all!
Melster, things are going really well. DS has his surgery in a few weeks to correct his clubfoot, but being the amazing little guy he is has already started walking anyway. Sure it took a lot longer than usual but I'm still super proud he's up and walking against the odds! It's hard to believe that tiny little boy I brought home is the same one running around the house and being his crazy little self.
Bring on round two! :)
As for your question, no I don't find it weird at all that you don't want to just book in a date for a c/s. Of course if that's what you genuinely wanted, there'd be nothing wrong with that either. I say listen to your inner voice first, and go from there. Only you know what you truly want. Good luck!
