DS is proving to be quite the explorer at nightime and coupled with starting to sit up and topple over again he is bumping his head and all other parts of his body on the side of his cot with more and more regularity.
He is looking a bit bruised and battered and is waking himself up with his antics. Any safety guidelines I can find say 12 months is safe, so should I put up with another 5 months of bumps or has anyone introduced one sooner?
Or perhaps is there an alternative option?
To bd honest I didn't think they were safe at any age but I'm not 100 percent on that.
I wouldn't advise introducing one at any age either but SIDS and kids recommend no soft bedding until they are in a bed, so maybe closer to 2 years
We used an air wrap for ds from 4 months but I don't think that'll do much for bumps it just stopped him getting stuck in the bars

May have to go back to the drawing board on this one and get a bit creative....
I introduced one at 9 months for the same reason. He was sitting up by himself by then and crawling and rolling independently so I wasn't worried he'd get smooshed against the side and not be able to move away.
I would say never. I had two kids that did all these things but it just wasn't worth the risk.
I did, with DS1, but not till he was almost 2 and about to be put into a bed. I wouldn't do it under 12mths. Not safe.
