PPP and FTB payments and a overseas trip for a month

I am planing to go overseas for a month and half but Iam not sure I would be paid my PPP and FTB.some of my DHs friend told he got full payments for his partner and kids when his wife went overseas to visit her parents.

But for me when last year I went overseas for a month my FTB was slashed to half./ for my payments I don't remember i got in half or none.

( before leaving I called centrelink that iam leaving for a month, but my DHS friend told him you don't need to inform them and you will be paid in full)

SO I am not sure whats the rule.

Could anybody help me here.

we lived OS for 7 months and the deal with that was that it would cut out after 90 days. I *think* it might have something to do with the visa rules of the country you are visiting?? ie once it goes from tourist visa limits to residential limits...maybe??

i remember we had to inform them once we got back to resume the full payments as well.

I was travelling to my home country and our FTB was cut to half from day one umn just thinking may be it was a mistake or don't know how they handle each case.DHs friends wife also visited the same country as me but she was paid full payments.

ohh thanks for the heads up! am planning an escape at the end of this year...

Cassius2 I would suggest you before leaving please speak to them so they can not make the mistake they done last year with my case.I am thinking to talk to them that why they
cut half of my FTB when i just left for 1.5 month and mine was cut from day one.

Interesting I went on holiday to UK for almost six weeks last Sep, nothing changed but I never informed anyone never occured to me it would be any different to going away for six weeks within Aus

There are residency requirements for All payments and going overseas can impact your entitlement. It will depend on how long since your last overseas trip, what payment your on, your visa if you are not an au citizen, how long the trip is etc

You have to notify of all changes in circumstance within 14 days of it happening - and travelling overseas is a change in circumstance. If you don't notify, you can expect a data match with immigration to flag you as our if the country and an assumption o be made that it is long erm so payments will be cancelled. Always contact before you leave!!



Previously, FTB and ppp were, in general, payable for up to 13 weeks when you were overseas (depending in other things like time outside the country previously) as of January 1, that dropped to six weeks. There are criteria where fit a only can be extended past that (for quite significant times, at a much reduced rate) - but it's best to check your own individual circa by calling fao

Interesting info BG, I would never have thought of a holiday as a change of circumstance. Surely you don't have to notify of every holiday outside of Australia? Or is it only over a certain number of weeks. Will go check out the guidelines now.

You are required to notify of every time you leave the country for any reason. It's outlined in every letter you receive. It is definitely a change of circumstance. You're no longer in Australia and may not meet residency requirements for payments any more. There is a constant data link with immigration and its not unusual to see payments cut off completely as soon as someone leaves the country.

When I was receiving FTB, I remember reading something that said if we were leaving the country, you had to advise them. I did call, but it didn't affect my payments. We went to NZ for a month.
