Toilet training.... is this the right thing to do?

DD1 was a breeze to TT

DD2 has been okay, we have tried a few times and ended up going back to nappies, but as of a few weeks ago we all became 110% commited to TT as DD2 really wanted to wear undies.

So all had been going well, we had even gotten to the stage where her day time naps where in undies and every time we went out she was in undies, the only time she wasn't was over night! only slight prob is with #2's but i know they can take awhile.

Than on monday i started back at work for the first time (degree finished yay) and nan and pop looked after DD2, they knew she was toilet training and i said to put her down for a nap in her undies as the bed had protective covers on top and under the sheets and if an accident occured i would wash the sheets when i got home.

I get home to find that she hadn't been to the toilet all day and therefor was made to wear a nappy for her nap (much to DD2's upset). From that evening onwards she has been a complete nightmare to get her to go to the toilet! she screams and cries blue murder.

Today however i have had success and she has been going to the toilet all day after a big screaming and crying session this morning i have my T Ting DD2 back, she is currently napping in her undies :)

Tomorrow she has Kindy and and next week grandparents will be babysitting again, so after all this my question is........

Would the right thing to do (so she doesn't go backwards again) to get rid of nappies completely when she is in the care of other people so they have no choice but to keep encouraging her to go to the toilet?

DD2 is almost 28mths old, we are not forcing the issue, she has shown she is ready. Is what she went through normal?

I would take away the nappy option, and if you can leave them a potty or step so she can take herself if they're not taking her!

she does have the step and seat attached toilet thingy, which she can use as she doesn't like the potty, still have to go "watch" her all the time as she asks me too LOL but i am happy for that aslong as she continues and i am sure eventually the novelty of having mummy watch will wear off!

Just would hate to see her go backwards again, but also don't want to be "mean" about it, but in saying that she is more happier in undies than a nappy! guess grandparents and kindy are going to have no choice but to go along with it!

any tips on getting the number #2's? LOL

Can I just say hooray! I remember your post about going to uni hun! That is so ace!

I think they would probably both understand that she is learning and kindy would be prepared for kids who are just starting to learn and would give lots of constant reminders!

id chuck the nappies. DD goes to the loo for nana with no problems, as its novel

chucked the nappies :)

and so far she has been doing really well, no accidents at kindy (the kindy has started a sticker star chart for her as she is the only one TTing in her class) and she has even done #2's on the toilet :) although this upsets her a little! we have pull up at night but that is the only time she is in anything but undies!

We went out today for around 3 and a bit hours and she had no accidents, she even went to the toilet while we were out, which is pretty good :)
