Egg Free Cookie receipe
Hi
I am looking to make some shamrock shaped cookies for St Patrick's Day next week for DS's daycare. When I was chatting to one of the girls in there today she mentioned that Friday, (which is the day i am intending to go in - my day off and Paddys Day is the Sunday) had to be egg free as i assume one of the kids must have an intolerance.
Can anyone help out with an egg free cookie receipe? Or any other idea of something that I could make instead. The plan will be to actually make them at daycare so I need to keep it reasonably simple. I've ordered a shamrock cookie shaper and could add some green colouring to the receipe also to give it the green tinge :D - don't think it would be quite right to add guinness or irish whiskey to a 3 year old receipe!!!!
Any ideas would be fab.
Thanks

Anzac cookies don't have egg and I find them very simple to make. You could probably mix some dry ingredience at home also to make it easier if the kids are helping out. Like the coconut, sugar, oats etc and then add the butter there. The only problem with them is I think it would be difficult to turn them into shamrocks as they would spread in the cooking process and turn into a warped shape once sooked.

You can buy 'egg replacer' at the supermarket. I have always used this in recipes when baking something for the kids to take to school if a child in their class has an egg allergy. It works really well and I've never had a problem, I have used it in bikkies before. I would use the egg replacer in a basic biscuit dough, the kids will love cutting out the shapes!
The egg replacer is a powder which you add water to then add to your recipe. I think it is an Orgran product and it's usually in the health food section of the supermarket.

Actually, type in 'basic biscuit mix' on the Taste website. This might be what you're looking for

Thanks girls
Nickle730 will try and see if i can pick this up in supermarket tomorrow. Assume I just replace the egg with the required amount of the 'egg replacer'? Tinks might try this basic bisuit mix out at the weekend to see if it works. Mildez like the idea of Anzac biccies but agree that they won't keep shape and I'd like them to look like shamrocks when finished :D

yes, use the orgran egg replacer, I use it in my egg free cookies, then just make a glaze icing to ice them (instead of royal, with the gg whites)

The basic biscuit recipe is awesome! I used it once when I didn't have egg and its now the main one we use.

Thanks - Do you reckon I'll be able to roll it to cut out shamrock shapes with the cutter or is it more of a make into ball dough and then just flatten to make into biccie shapes?

The picture with the recipe shows It rolled out.

thanks might re search for the recipe again as the one i found didn't show that and spoke about rolling in a ball.

I roll it out for the kids to use cutters all the time.
