Continence nurse

Just wondering if anyone has had their child at a continence nurse clinic and what it was like. I am taking ds2 next week for bedwetting.

We've taken DS (4) to the continence nurse/clinic but it was for constipation issues rather that wetting. Honestly, she was a wealth of information, unfortunately she didn't have anything to offer us that we hadn't already tried. That said, we are chronically constipated (medicated) and seeing a paediatrician for our issues. I think if we weren't so severe and long term than she probably would have been our answer. She was very understanding. Not sure that any of that helps, sorry.

Yep, I had DD1 at our local nurse last year. She was an excellent source of not only info, but confidence for DD.
We went down the alarm pad (on the bed) route.
On our first appointment she chatted to DD about how she felt, if she knew why we were there talking to her. She also asked what we had tried and what info I already had.

What age should we seek assistance with a continence nurse and how often bed wetting episodes per week?

I think they say age 7, not sure how many nights a week is considered problematic but we haven't had a dry night yet in 7.5 years

My DD is 6.5 years and still wets. We have good phases where it's about 1 a week but then she'll go through a phase of wetting 2-4 times a week.

Locally to me they prefer to wait until seven before making a referral because most cases resolve themselves by this time, but if you are concerned or want advice then it's worth asking for a referral.

It's 6 here. She said it's early for them to see a continence nurse at 6 but same as Trav, we weren't having any dry nights.
