My newborn's poo is green!

So DD2 is 1 week old today and right from the start as soon as the meconium disappeared her poo has been an army green colour. It doesn't look like breast milk poo at all. We've had nothing that even gets close to an orange mustardy poo. I first thought maybe a bit of a fore milk imbalance even though I only feed from one side at a time during for each feed. But it's not frothy and it's almost more formed than a breastfed poo, kind of like a really thin green paste. 100% breastfed. Today it also had some stringy bits in it. She is super refluxy as well. Does this mean food intolerance?

Also on another note she's had a bit of bloody discharge the last few days. I have have been told this is normal as my hormones remove from her body but wondering how long it lasts as it never happened with dd1

I'm really not sure about the blood. So you've talked to your doctor or child health nurse about that already?
Green poo can certainly be normal, it's on the spectrum of normal coloured poo. Does she seem to be going ok otherwise?
It seems like you feel something else is up, though....? Is there another health professional you could talk to about this perhaps?

Generally in the first week newborns poo does go green at some stage- not all do but most go meconium, brown, green, then mustard. The green usually coincides with the milk changing as you go into lactogenisis 2 ( the milk 'coming in'). You would generally expect it to only be green for a day or two, but I guess its not unheard of to go longer. I'm sure your milk came in quickly though being oyur 3rd baby. Maybe ring the MCHN line and see what they say?

The discharge is normal for I think up to a few months, my baby's breasts were swollen for a few weeks I think. Its called psuedomenstruation if you want to google it. Is it mucousy or straight blood?

It's just blood, but I spoke to the midwife today and she said that its perfectly normal and it can take awhile to stop depending on how long it takes for the hormones to leave her body.

My milk is definitely in, been through the initial engorgement and all so it's not because of transition milk. Midwife said I could try changing my diet and see if it made a difference but she wasn't real worried about it. Bub has already gone past her birth weight so she said she is obviously feeding well.

We had 2 days of green that sounded like what you are describing. I did a day of block feeding and stopped eating broccoli (I doubt it was this but looked like it was related!) poos have been mustard colored ever since.
Sure it's all fine :)

If she's gaining weight and otherwise well, maybe just wait and see?
