Sore legs pg safe alternantive to deep Heat or the like?

Hi, I have a friend 18 weeks pregnant with really sore legs. She wanted to use Deep Heat for relief but I didn't think it was safe. I've given her a wheat bag for heat, but she wants to know if there is a safe cream for relief as well for when she goes to work?

I always thought deep heat and dencorub are okay :dunno:

I keep reading different things and it's confusing me. Some say yeah no worries others have said OBs and middies said not to :dunno:

I used tiger balm. I was advised that if it was helping with my pain than the risks far outweighed the benefits. I was unable to take anything stronger than panadol for pain too as I'm allergic to codeine. Tiger balm was a blessing.

I just had a look in my Australian Medicines Handbook (I'm a pharmacist), and deep heat type rubs are fine to use in small areas (basically just use where it hurts). I'd probably stay away from Voltaren type gels, just a theoretical risk, unless GP says ok. Tiger Balm is much nicer smelling, if you don't like the footy shed smell. :)

I was told to stay away from anything that has camphor in it. Tiger balm is a favorite of mine but was a no go in pg. I'm told Physiocream works well and it doesn't contain camphor but the manufacturers wouldn't say it was of safe when I spoke with them last year.

I have no idea about deep heat etc as above but something different....The Body Shop peppermint reviving leg gel is good. It doesn't have enough peppermint to be a problem in pregnancy- I'm told, it also has horseradish in it to stimulate circulation, I've used it after exercise for sore shin's.

avon have a muslce rub I think its mint an drosemary and OMG it is the best..
