So, a question about pessaries....front door or back?

I started today on pessaries and, as I'm taking them 3 times a day and I'm at work, I was wondering if anyone has used the "back door" so to speak? If so, have you noticed any difference? I just can't lay down for 20-30 minutes in the middle of the day!

yes... i have. the idea sounds worse than the actual process! i found it quicker, easier & didnt get the usual leakage that i did when using the 'front door'. i checked with the pharmacy before doing it to make sure the pessaries that were prescribed for me were ok for 'back door' use. goodluck. ;)

Yes, I had to do this while at work as well, and also due to the number of pessaries I was doing - I would have spent all day lying down, lol!
It's not so bad after the first time, I didn't experience the leakage that you get with inserting vaginally, so that's a bonus!

Back door here too. I bought disposable gloves, made it easier for me to cope with! Doing it at work is never fun though!!

I always insert vaginally.

To avoid doing them at work, you can do one in the morning, one when you get home, then one in bed at night.

Both my FS have recommended this.

I always did the back door as it was less messy and I would get thrush from doing it vaginally. I rang the pharmacist to check that it was ok and she said that it is actually absorbed better from the back door, but most people don't like doing it that way.

I remember having to do one in a restaurant once ... Ahhr the memories.

I always did the same as N2l (morning, as soon as I got home from work and bedtime), but I was told "back door" was an option too. I always felt uncomfortable with the idea of using them rectally even though I too had heard they are better absorbed that way (along with the other benefits)... But I'm someone who never used tampons because I didn't like inserting them, so I've come a long way to overcome that aversion just to use the pessaries vaginally in the first place! :redface:
