Boys and cloth - is there a big difference?

I'm using DD's MCNs (AI2s - candies & BBH & pockets- bumgenius, BBH) and prefolds for DS (my preference when they are under 6 months). The back of the trifolds are understandably fairly dry and I was wondering if there are any hints on cloth nappies for boys to make them go further or what you've found worked for your boy. The above nappies are fine I just hadn't given any thought to how I might do things differently this time.

I'm interested too in case the wriggler is a boy! The only thing I've been told is to make sure the penis is pointing down, but I'm sure you're doing that already :)

I used cloth on DS after using on DD - all mine were pockets - bumgenius and greenkids in the main - the only difference I made was if I boosted them (mainly boosted with the little Green Kids bamboo inserts) I made sure was pushed right up to the top at the front - because the wet is all up the front. I also found that with the greenkids weren't as good when had to turn down (for newborns) because of the wet all being at the front - but if you are using prefolds till 6 months that prob won't be an issue.

Have just been pondering this as DS2's night nappy was practically dry up the back but soaked at the front. I'd assumed it would soak up but it doesn't seem to have. I didn't do anything different for DD to DS1, but it looks like I might need to tweak things for DS2.

Tomorrow night I will fold the trifold booster down ... If fit doesn't make it too bulky... So it has six layers of bamboo at the front, not three long layers that go right along the nappy. I'll give that a try.

I've used greenkids and bum genius as pockets on ds1 without problems but I did use bamboo boosters and made sure they did reach the top at the front. The bum g ones that snapped down, I put the extra bit at the front do there was an extra part layer at the front. I also used a small booster inside the double layer insert for the GKs so I had 3 layers of thick bamboo.

I switched to itti bitti SIO with DS1 as I got tired of stuffing pockets. DS2 has only used ittis happily with no dramas and disposables (we part time cloth due to childcare and a sposie works better for us at night). Main thing is to make sure it points down :lol:

Yep its pointing down lol! I also tried doubling up a bit at the front so the thicker part is closer to the penis with more success. Thanks for that. I just need longer trifolds to ensure the back end is covered.
