Harness to seatbelt

DD1 will be 4 next month and we are planning to get her new booster seats (two cars) so that DD2 can have her seats and The Stowaway can have DD2's seats.

Problem is I want to change the seats over before her birthday and that means she will have the seatbelt before she is actually 4 and it is legal (am I right on this one?)

Would you do it? On one hand I want to be prepared but I don't want to do the wrong thing by DD1.

Oh and can anyone tell me what is meant when a seat is described as antisubmaring?

I can comment on the anti-submarining part - it means the seat has a clip that goes between the legs that the seatbelt hooks into and this in effect stops the child from sliding downwards under the seatbelt, hard to explain - but it's a good thing!

Whereabouts are you...is it done by age or height when to transfer to a seatbelt - I know on our Safe n Sound Hi Liner it has marks to show that the shoulders should be above these or the child should stay in harness seat.

DS1 went into a Hi liner at age 4 and has a H harness, as I did not like idea of just seat belt, I know some people do not like that but my reading and talking to others seemed better option.

My son is 3.5 and I swapped him, he is a little taller and fits into the safe sound hi liner.

:ROFL: Bugger, DD1 will be upset if that is the case. She saw the ads for that show that was on recently with the sub and asked to go on one.

Thanks BooBoo, makes sense now. I am in NSW. The seat she is in is one of the seats that you can use from 6months to 8 years but she is already at the top harness slot in it, she is tall for her age.

Feebs. Can any seat use a H harness? The two I like don't mention anything about using one of them on it. Totally unrelated. What is today the day for?

The ones I looked at could, but not sure if all can I asked in baby bunting.

DD is 4 next month and recently went into a full booster with lap sash belt only. H harnesses are not recommended by VICROADS so we don't use one.

Thanks Niadalla, I rang up about the seat I like and they said that they don't recommend the H harnesses be used. I am going tomorrow to look at the seat. Hopefully it is what I am after.
