Personally I would opt for the Nissan. We've had a lot and they've been incredibly reliable and hardy.
My MIL had an Elantra for two years, and has had nothing but trouble, ditto for two of my friends.
A guy at work has the Vectra and now wonders why he bought it as it apparently feels cheap and plastic, and has problems with internal things needing to be replaced - the lid on the centre console broke, the indicator switch stopped working, the aircon and radio buttons keep getting stuck.
Stay well away from the Vectra.
I'm leaning toward the Nissan as have heard only bad things about the vectra.
Choosing a 2nd hand car on a budget is so hard!
Thanks LS!
Get a Corolla.
I'm looking at them too Tinks....
Not as cheap as the other cars.
I only have about 8k to spend all up.
Also looking at 2003 mazda 323 astina with low K's
Oh if you can find a decent corolla in your price range, snap it up! I bought one in 2006, 6 years old. I only just sold it and it's easily the best small car my partner and I have had.
I'm trying to stretch the budget a bit more, but I'm planning to upgrade in 1-2 years anyway- hence the budget.
I don't like the corolla beige interior- or the ones that have wood panelling!
Ew no. Mine was black inside with red dash instruments :)
Nice!
I can possibly get a 2002/2003 (with low K's)corolla in my budget if I'm on the ball :-)
2002- onwards.
Can get 2002 in my budget, but the fact that's its over 10 years old is holding me back.
Go the Mazda. I scored a cheap secondhand one a few years ago on carsales - love Mazda now and wouldn't get anything else.
Corollas are also good though.
Stay far far away from vectra - I had one and it gave us nothing but trouble. Biggest waste of money ever.
I bought my Mum's Mazda that was 10 years old and was a good buy.
I would stick with Nissan, loved my Pulsar until some person decided to run into me, Corolla, Yarris, Echo. Just make sure there are 4 doors as nothing is worse than getting into the back seat of a two door car, especially in a hurry.
Keep an eye out on carsales
I too would say don't go the Vectra!!!
I know people bag out hyundai's, but our Elantra has been fantastic. we bought it second hand and its a 07 model, It came with a five year warranty and we have never had to fix a thing. It has enough space for 3 car seats and great boot space and is great on petrol!
