I'm wanting to take up sewing as a hobby and wondering what essentials will I need in my sewing kit to get me started?

Spare needles

Totally agree on sharp pair of scissiors for cutting your material only. Also a wide variety of threads, in different colours and thicknesses, so you wont be caught out when you dont have the right shade/colour/strength. A cutting mat and roller cutter, ruler, and the sewing machines instructions!
