How does Blackmores pregnancy and breastfeeding shape up to Elevit? I am really needing the vitamins especially the magnesium for aches and pains at night. Are their any others you would recommend? I am out of Elevit and just can't afford another box.
So what are some good ones out there that won't break the budget? :)
I found that Elevit just has more Folic Acid than the others, which is important pre pregnancy and in the first trimester.
As soon as I finish this box, I'll be buy a cheaper pregnancy vitamin as well. My last pregnancy I found a super cheap one that was perfect - I can't seem to find it anymore.
I used blackmores and they were great. No issues at all

Why don't you google them all first? They all have their ingredients listed on their websites. And the large chemist chains advertise their prices too, so you can see what you are getting and how much it costs.
I was able to buy Elevit at one point for about 20-30 dollars cheaper than what they normally are. I think it was at chemist warehouse. They did have a special on at the time. I bought a couple of boxes to last me through most of the pregnancy. I think I checked the blackmores ones before, but think you might have to take 3 tablets a day, which turns out to be still pretty pricy.

You only need one elevit and have to take two of the cheaper ones
My ob said to check the folate and iron levels but watch the wording the iron on the back of the pack may be written differently
Like the actual amount not the amount actually absorbed...
My ob recommended elevit and I also got it $20 off at chemist warehouse end of April.
I know some people who take none or just take folate and iron.
i cant handle anything other than elevit....i threw up swisse and blackmores!
i did have great success with a plant-based multi that i bought in the states but couldnt find them here...but you might have luck at your local natural health store too for the multis...just an option to see what is available.

My OB recommends fabfol plus. Way cheaper than the others too which I appreciate! Check it out on the chemist warehouse site :) I don't find it tastes anywhere near as bad as elevit and it doesn't have a smell either.
Thanks ladies! I ended up getting Blackmores. I have taken it before and it was fine. And Elevit at Chemist warehouse is $50 for the 100 tablets, which is a good price. But I really couldn't spare $50 and just got 2 months of Blackmores for $20. Plus I only have 7 weeks left till bubs is due. I know you take it in breastfeeding too, but I'm hoping to get some more by then :)
It's mainly for the magnesium and also I am eating rubbish lately. Cold horrible weather is making me live on toast and crumpets! No salads or fruit here atm :(

Tasha, I have a massive tub of calcium/magnesium supplements here if you want it? It's been opened, but there are heaps left that are going to waste in my cupboard. I had such sore/restless legs during pregnancy and they were the only thing that helped.
Thanks PZ :) But I just bought some Blackmores, will see if they do the trick. My pain is all in my hips, it totally sucks. But if the Blackmores don't help I will send you a PM :)
I love Fabfol, took it for years. Cheap and not as constipating as Elevit. I thought Blackmores was mega expensive.
