BD1 and DH have a cold. I've kept them away but I'm worried our one month old baby has it. He is still feeding every 3-4hrs but is sleeping more than usual. He doesn't have a temperature.
Is there anything I should be doing for him. He is exclusively breastfed. I expressed today so I could see how much milk he was getting. He took 110mL tonight and a top up 15mins later.
He has been sneezing but generally seems ok when he's awake.
Keep his fluids up and if he develops a fever take him in...just because of his young age. My DD2 and DD3 also got colds early on...the joys of being siblings!
All the breastfeeding will help boost him back up xx here's to a speedy recovery!
:hug: DB not nice when they are sick so little :( I agree with Cassius, keep fluids up, which you will anyway as you are demand feeding. He's probably sleeping more fighting it off. If he gets a temp get him checked seeing as he's so little. If you feel he's not feeding as much try offering an extra feed here and there.
DS is nearly out the others side of her cold now and handled it pretty well.
If he has trouble feeding with nasal congestion you can use a snot sucker(for lack of the correct name right now :lol: ) to clear him out a bit. Vaporisers are good too.
He had a good feed tonight at 10pm and is sleeping soundly. He's only symptoms are sneezing and one eye was a little watery. He doesn't seem clogged up in the nose.
I can't sleep though. I'm worried and just keep checking him.
Thanks Cassius and Willow. Thank goodness he's feeding well. Hopefully he will keep that up. I feel rather emotional about it. I love them so much. I wish I could have the cold for him and BD1. She seems on the mend though and only had a mild case.
I felt the same DB they are so little for being sick :( DS was struggling to feed because she was all blocked up in the nose. I felt so bad for her that even the best comfort tool wasn't working for her. Glad he had a good night and I know what you mean about not sleeping because you're watching and listening for them.
