Not getting pregnant after a mc???

Hi everyone,
I'm not really sure if this is a question or maybe to see if anyone else has had this happen.
My DF and I where what I would class as extremely fertile, we had our first 3 children first go one time only.
I had a mc a year ago and we haven't been able to get pregnant since, my mc was ok I had some that remained for a few days after the scan but it passed and the pain was gone after that, so I would say it was "normal".
I have always been a big girl, and I had lost over 10kgs before getting pregnant last year ( not to get pregnant just for me) and I put it all back on since then so I am wondering if that is the reason. I don't know, this is turning out to be a bit of a ramble. I just want it so much. I am currently turning my eating habits around and have started exercising again. I guess I am just wondering if I should go to the doc and talk to them in case it isn't the weight, again I have always been big and conceived first time with all the others.

Soooooo has anyone else not been able to concieve after a mc because of some other reason?

Usually they say for most people if you are not pregnant after 12 months, to get things investigated - and if over 35 after 6 months....

At 33, I went after not getting pregnant for six months.

I reckon if you are worried, it doesn't hurt to go and get things checked. If they find nothing - that's great! At least you are linked in with a specialist.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with TTC post MC. I know for my wife and I, we've gone from mc @ 17 wks to nothing in 4 IVF cycles prior to this one, and it was beginning to feel like our chances were minimal of any future success. We've just got a BFP, so it is possible! As for 'to term'...we're just hoping and praying.

Anyhow, friends of friends (I was told last week) went to Genea for IVF treatment after trying for a couple of years with no luck. After 3 rounds of IVF (not sure if IVF or ICSI), and lots of invasive testing, Genea were talking about genetic testing as the next option, but their 'new' GP recommended the PWU (person with uterus) lose 10kg and try for 6 months, then do tests if still no luck. The first month TTC after successfully losing 10 kg, a 24-year-old girl is now happily pregnant.

So the weight really can make all the difference, it seems. Hoping and praying you succeed.

We started TTC#1 when I was 30 and we had problems from the start, so I'm sorry to say that 31 isn't "too young" for age to be a problem. It took almost 3 years to get our first BFP (early m/c), then another 8 months to get the 2nd one (DD). Only 5 cycles post-partum we got our 3rd BFP (mm/c) but now 17.5 months after the d&c we are still waiting for our fourth BFP.

I'm a big girl too, but my weight has nothing to do with our infertility - our problems are endometriosis, diminished ovarian reserve and male factor infertility, none of which are caused by obesity.

That said, there's a threshold weight for each of us, at which things stop working properly (usually by ovulation not occurring). I still O like clockwork and have regular cycles, but other ladies my weight may not because they are above their individual threshold.

Thanks all for your replies I defiantly still o like clockwork and have a 28 day cycle, I just find it odd that we have successfully had 3 children on the first attempt so I don't think me being 31 is the problem, I am currently loosing weight so hopefully that will be the key. im on my second month ttc since my 3 mc in april this year, so still waiting.
but my 2 mc, it took 5 months to fall pregnant had a mc at 6 and a half weeks then took 2 years to concieve my daughter and she is child number 6..

i should also say that my youngest is 2 this month, and we were not ttc before i fell pregnant but for the last year we were not being very careful either..
it seems to be taking me a while to concieve now that im older..

Sorry to hear you're having problems after being so fertile with your first few I can truely understand your frustration. I fell preg with my DS on the third month ttc and am now 8 weeks pregnant after 2-2.5 years TTC....It was a rough trot as I easily fell preg before we were told to keep trying and numerous tests showed nothing was wrong. After a chem preg then 2 x IUI, 1 x IVF and 2 x FET all BFN I got tested for a myriad of things and they found my natural killer cells were over activated (ie my immune system is on overdrive), treatment for this and a FET and I got my BFP first time.
I think if it was 'easy' before and not much has changed then i would ask for testing, it could just be that you've been luckier in the past but if there is something it's good to know so you can have a plan. Good Luck xx
