Wedding traditions - 2nd time

Do you think wedding traditions are used for second (or subsequent weddings) still?

With my first wedding I went with not seeing hubby from the night before, wore white, something borrowed new old and new etc...

Now I'm getting remarried in less then 3 weeks and I'm following no tradition!

I refuse to wear white, ill be staying with DF the night before. My outfit is new, there's no blue, nothing borrowed.... No formal bridal party. Think the only thing we do have is a cake lol

So what's your view... New age go with the flow or follow traditions?

I say it's your wedding, plan your day to suit & your DF :) I hope the day goes well for you.

If I am ever lucky enough to marry DP I would let him set the tone for the amount of tradition we follow as it would be my 2nd but his 1st. I would be happy with the registers office & a BBQ lol

Whatever suits you - we didn't even have cake, I drove myself to wedding venue, we only had rings because the ceremony would have been too short without they are wooden and cost two dollars and haven't been worn since. I asked him to marry me on 29th of Feb, that is sort of a tradition. No honeymoon we went to work next day, were at home together the night before. It wasn't a deliberate shunning of tradition was just what we wanted. It was great a couple of degrees warmer it would have been perfect. It was in a local park that we often go to with kids and I love the fact we can go stand in the actual spot where we got married whenever we want and DD had her 4th birthday there recently.

ETA: just realised this is for second time - but my opinion is still the same first second whatever time - do what suits you (plus makes more interesting for guests if you have any to do things a bit different).

We followed most of the traditions for my second wedding. It was DH's first.

I wasn't going to wear white but he wanted me too so I did. We spent the night apart before the wedding as well. Don't think I followed the old, blue tradition though.

My friend was shocked when I said I wasn't doing traditional stuff. It's not us, both been married before and we wanted simple not formal stuff. She was adamant I couldn't see DF until the ceremony, that I had to get professional make up/hair, flowers etc

Bugger that! I've got 4 kids to dress and organise, I'm not taking 2 cars to the venue.

Think all our guests are in for a shock when they see just how laid back we are going to be!

Only if you want them to. DH and I have never been married before and we had no traditions at ours. Infact, I even wore white (far from pure :rofl: )

It was my first wedding and DH's second wedding.

I wore blue and borrowed my grandmothers ring (off my sister) and borrowed my pearl choker and earings off a friend....so I guess I followed the something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue......

BUT - all completely unintentional!
