Tell me how much you love your Chrysler Grand Voyager.

So after wanting to upgrade my car for the past almost 3 yrs (or since I found out we were having the twins) it looks like we are finally doing it :)

I want/need a people mover, especially now I have 2 ASD children I want something I can open quickly and get everyone into then I can close the door behind us and then start the fighting to get into car seats lol. So after some investigation I have decided I want a 7 seater - not 8 - as I want easy access to the rear seats and we are not having anymore babies so having 3 extra seats (when we are out as a family) is overkill IMO.

So I think we have decided on the Chrysler Grand Voyager, we have found a 2005 model - top of the range - which has good kilometres, is very clean and has all the bells and whistles that we could want, with the added bonus of all the rear seats being able to be folded into the floor ie: the stow and go option.

We have our finance all in place and are going to do a test drive this weekend to see if we like how it feels on the road. From my research the servicing doesn't seem to be too exxy compared to what we currently pay for our existing cars servicing etc, but I'm so excited to finally be getting my much longed for 'bigger' car.

So for all of you out there who have the Grand Voyager, tell me what you love about them :)

We had a Chrysler Grand Voyager in England for the last 4 years. I must say I did love it (they are more common than here I think) for the fact that it was so roomy. It was like a bus and I could literally walk up and down in the car. It was comfy, great to drive and easy to park despite the size. Great for having lots of kids and for fitting car seats as there is room for all. Also being American there are places to stash food and drinks holders everywhere. Loads of extra hidden storage too...The only down side I would tell you about is that it was REALLY heavy on fuel. Petrol is cheaper here, but in comparison to other MPVs I have to say it's probably one of the juiciest. I guess it depends how much you'll drive it and where. Longer distances were better than short, stop/start journeys like the school run. Still one of my favourite cars though! Over here we have a 7 seater Ford Territory which is definitely better on petrol consumption and still has the room inside, but it isn't set-up the same way to allow you to walk around inside.

Lol about the petrol, a quick trip to the supermarket for us is a 30 min drive so it will be used as a long distance people mover :)

We love ours. We have older kids and younger kids and it fits us all so comfortably. Being able to convert it to a regular van helps heaps when we need to pick up large items and soon with moving. We recently fit a fridge in the back of ours! Lol.
I don't find the fuel consumption to be too bad. It's obviously much better on longer drives but I think I'm just used to it. We seem to spend about the same per week as my sister who has a similar aged Tarago.
The main negative I have found is getting parts in can be a PITA. Ours had a cracked radiator hose and it was going to take weeks to come in but luckily we found an aftermarket one that arrived in 3 days. Also, Chrysler customer service here in NSW are useless, not sure what they're like in other states though.

I just bought a 2002 model and love it. I love that I can put the girls in the car and do them up without getting soaked. The seats are comfy, there's plenty of space for everything, although my boot is a bit smaller than my Honda crv. I've only had mine for 3 weeks, it is more expensive on fuel, but its a bigger car. When petrol was $1.55/l it cost $95 to fill up. I nearly died. When it was about $1.33/l it was $75. I have so far got about 360kms but that's before I let it get on empty because of cheaper fuel prices at the time. I'm thinking I would get about 420 kms a tank. That's with short trips most of the time and a few longer ones-30 minutes to an hour. My husband loves it. Car parts are apparently a bit more pricey but my husband is handy and sources out after market stuff too. Hope that helps.

We picked our up 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it. The ability to get the kids in and out is so much easier now and even they get excited about going in the 'new' car as they sit much higher up now and can look out the windows.

Petrol is a bit exxy, but considering I was driving a commodore station wagon before hand it is pretty comparable to fill up anyway but considering this is now MY car it won't have those random weekend drives that DH used to do in the Station Wagon which ate petrol (we still have the Station Wagon as DH wanted to keep it for towing etc). I am getting about 500km's to a tank..

Had a coupel of minor issues arise that we are getting checked out - the main one being the thermostat or thermostat sensor - it had a hissy because the engine temp was showing cold to 1/4 way not being in the middle. It should be an easy fix or it could just be that we live in a cold place so the engine doesn't like it when it is 3c in the morning when I do kinder run.

Good to hear you like it. I find the thermostat issue interesting because dh pointed out that it was still showing cold... About 1/4... Even though we had been driving for ages. Let me know how you go with it.

Will do, even if I've been driving for ages (into town and running around and then home - so a good 100km's) it still will only go to a maximum of 1/4. The engine warning light came on a couple of weeks ago when we took it for it's first night drive - on a cold rainy night - we freaked out because we didn't know what was happening but after working out how to find the engine codes to diagnose what happened we found it was something to do with the thermostat. I rang our local Chrysler dealer but the earliest they can look at it is this Friday but the light will stay on until the repairer fixes the issues and then resets the computer.
