Mucus in 10 month olds stools - help!

Hello ladies,

Tonight is the second time I have noticed stringy mucus in my daughters poo and to be honest...I'm freaking out. So, here is a little back ground info.

She was diagnosed with a milk allergy at 3 months due to continuous sinus/chest congestion problems, she has been on soy milk since. She is now on a large variety of solids but i'm steering clear of dairy for the moment.

So after discovering this mucus I hop onto Google (as us mothers do) and what does it come up with? Cystic Fibrosis! Mucus in nappes....check. Small growth big appetite....check. Then just as I turn the corner into panic street I remember that I had an amnio done which cleared my daughter of Cystic Fibrosis. But that niggling is still there. Why oh why do I google research? I do this every. single. time! Anyway....back on track.

Has anyone else gone through this? Is it fairly normal? I'm booking a gp appointment first thing tomorrow morning but in the meantime, please, please help put my mind at ease ladies.

My older boy had that. It was a virus from memory. Some antibiotics and he was fine.

Mucus in stool is really normal during periods of teething as well as they produce more saliva - could it be something like this?

My lot always got it when they were teething or after they had been blocked up - they would swallow any phlegm instead of spitting it out. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about :hug:

I wouldnt worry about it.... if it consistent for a 7 day period and/or she becomes feverish then yes get it checked ...but like the others relax a babys digestive system is brand new and takes a few years to get totally in tune to all the new food etc etc it is given...

My second son was addicted to milk so much so i was always ready for the overflow poo..narmi that would always eventualy happen as what the body doesnt want it either comes up or out .... he is 5 now and perfectly healthy and isnt addicted to milk anymore..

I know I posted this a while ago but I'd just thought i'd update.

Since this incident my daughter has had another mucousy nappy yet this time there was a large amount of mucous. She also vomited shortly after (just a normal bottle/reflux burp vomit) and there was quite a bit in there too.

The doctor is testing for cystic fibrosis and food allergies. The blood test was not a pleasant experience at all for my daughter. We discovered whilst the nurse was drawing blood that she is hyper-flexible :( her little arm is black and blue.

When my baby had this it was a dairy allergy (which he grew out of). I was told to avoid soy too as the proteins are so similar people are often allergic to both.
