Pgd for gender selection- Thailand or USA IVF
Hi all,
I know this is a sensitive topic, and not looking for anyone wanting to pass judgement, but would really love to find mums who have gone overseas to pursue PGD for gender selection.
We are wanting to do this in December but are having a hard time choosing a clinic/location.
We have sort of narrowed it down to Superior ART in Thailand for proximity and link with genea, or Dr Fredrick in California for success rate and cost, although price is not a deciding factor.
But really would like to chat with anyone, with has experience in ivf overseas, positive or negative.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Pgd for gender selection- Thailand or USA IVF
Hi Ladies,
I am doing my gender selection treatment through HRC in the U.S. I am due to go over in late Jan 2015.
I feel very disconnected to the whole process, as the clinic in the States send me the tests they want and then I have to get them done at Melbourne IVF and they seem confused as to why I need to do such extreme testing like the saline ultrasound, when I am perfectly healthy and have had 2 regular internal ultrasounds and all looks good. Has anyone doing their treatment in the U.S. had to do the saline ultrasounds where they "inflate" your uterus and tubes to see they are clear and the shape, etc?
I have been advised that taking the pill just one month before drugs is ok too???
Is anyone going to HRC in California for their treatment?
Thanks,
Brooke

Hi mummas!
I too have 2 sons already and as I only wanted max 3 kids we decided to do pgd. We are due to go to Thailand in 2 weeks so going through the ivf process at the moment.
We decided to go Thailand as it was easier with a dr and contact here than doing the process via email from the USA, price wasn't a factor for us, but Thailand is quite a bit cheaper.
I found the contacts here in Australia for superior ART really helpful AFTER we decided to go ahead, I guess they have a lot of inqueries..
The cost so far to is has been cheaper than quoted , it is approx $11k in Thailand including what looks like a nice hotel, transfers we upgraded though and that was extra, and so far it's only been $1000 here for all the meds and dr appoint etc after Medicare rebates.
Ivf us not for the faint hearted though, lots of injections and risks involved with the extraction and meds, then there is the fact it is all happening in a foreign country, but if you have a supportive husband it makes it a lot easier.
There is not too much planning, just need to go to your first appointment approx 3 months before you want to go, meds don't start til 3-4 weeks before you go, not including the pill, you need to take that 2 months before.
If you have any other questions please ask, and I wish you the best of luck with your new bubba!
Hi I am really interested about having it done at Superior Art and wondered if you could give me some more information I am looking to do this in the next couple of months and would like some of your feedback. I would be travelling from the Uk I have two gorgeous little girls Age 9 & 8 who are my world but would love a little boy to complete the family.
Many thanks

Hi, my name is Samantha and accidently I saw you queries post recently. I am Chinese and I have worked for IVF Clinics in Thailand. So I am very familiar with the whole market in BKK and the procedures there.
Superior ART is a good choice. At the same time, there are many same level clinics in bkk. The most important thing do IVF in Thailand is not how famous the clinic is, but how is their success rate. As you know, if some clinic is too busy, they will not put too much attention on you. I suggest you try to research more clinics and get to know about their advantages. Pick the one more suitable for you is better than picking the one most popular.
If you plan to do in the next one or two month, please remember to start taking ZINC, Folic Acid and CoQ10. For your wife, please let her take the same as you, but one more for her is DHEA. These pills are suggested by my old doctor. It will help to improve the Y sperm and egg quality.
let me know if you need more help.
Good luck with you and your family!

Hi Samantha thank you for your help could you help me with some other clinics, like you said I am not worried about how popular a clinic is, like you said I am more bothered about the success rate. I don't know of any other clinics in BKK and seen the thread on Superior Art. I would very much appreciate any help and guidance that you may have. Or any doctors that you would recommend as you already know the market.
Thank you for your kindness
Re: Pgd for gender selection- Thailand or USA IVF
Hi Jello,
I think just like you! Its quite exciting to be able to choose the gender of your baby! However, due to regulatory differences only few countries offer this at present. Other than USA (which is expensive) and Thailand there is also North Cyprus where gender selection is possible. I have contacted Dunya IVF there and I am pleasantly surprised with their care and personalised treatment plan. They are always available for my questions (however simple & silly they may be!). I researched a lot before finally deciding with them. They are very reliable.
I am heading there next month and I am also looking forward to having a sunny island holiday

Hello ladies, I'm only new to this forum but loving all the fantastic information sharing!!! I have 3 beautiful sons and have been dreaming for having a baby girl to complete our family. I am currently talking to Global Health Travel about doing Pgd in Thailand with Fertility Frist, it sounds fantastic. I was wondering if anybody had heard of them or had experience in general with Pgd in Thailand?

Hi Shelly80,
Really? As I said above - I am still researching more info about where we should go to find a son .... Thai, I think it is cheaper than USA... But I am not sure they have specialists in Melbourne, Australia to help us to do pre-test?
Cheers,
Thao

Hi mummaS,
I wrote you an email but thought it may be a bit detailed to leave on the forum,, but if you didn't get a chance to read it, if you post your email I will send it to you, then you can delete your address.
Hope that's ok!
Hi Jello,
I'm new to this site & came across your post. Did you proceed with going overseas for gender selection & if so how did it go. I've got other questions but wanting to know if you're still an active member?
