My last period was a very heavy one. I had one instance where without warning I had a huge gush of blood (sorry tmi) that went through pad, pants and to chair. It has never happened before. I noticed a few small clots when I went to the bathroom. After that it seemed to be ok. Has it ever happened to you before? I have felt drained since it happened.
I've lost some weight recently which I have put down to stress and running after a toddler

hard to say if there's cause for concern. is this the first time it's been like that? reason i ask is because before my endometriosis was diagnosed mine were like that, but every month.
maybe start monitoring your period for the next 3 months or so and if they're all like that then go see your GP or Gynae :)
I occasionally have a really heavy period, but usually have fairly light ones; it just keeps me on my toes. Good old body! Are you keeping your iron levels up? Women need more iron than usual around their periods. And a few small clots are usually normal.
However, if your body is completely regular and predictable, then I can see why you would worry. I'd go with GW's suggestion and monitor your flow for the next couple of cycles and see if it is a change or a one-off. Most GPs won't bat an eyelid at "one time I had a larger flow than normal".
Do you always use pads, or do you use tampons/cups etc? Because if you're using something slightly different, or something different at a different stage of the bleeding then your period will look odd as you're not used to this stage fo the flow, ITMS.
I wouldn't be too worried about a once-off, but if it continues or develops into a pattern or you have any other unusual changes (eg pain or bleeding in between periods or unusual bloating/constipation) you might want to check it out with your GP.
on the other hand if you're having trouble bouncing back & the feeling of fatigue continues, it might be worth seeing your Dr for a check up including getting your iron levels/thyroid etc checked.
