It looks like we'll be moving to Newcastle next year! We'll only be there for 12 months so will be looking to rent. Can anyone suggest nice suburbs? DH will be working at the hospital so are the areas around there ok? Much public transport? On the one hand a yard would be nice for DD but we're both pretty crap at maintenance so an apartment close to parks would be fine too.
Lambton, New Lambton, New Lambton Heights are lovely areas and close to the hospital as is Rankin Park & Elermore Vale. Some parts of Elermore Vale can be a bit iffy but its generally okay. There is an IGA and small shopping complex in Elermore Vale. The Kindy Patch daycare centre in Elermore Vale is great.
I'm currently in the border of Elermoee Vale & Wallsend and its great where we are. We've had no dramas here other than the occasional moron spinning their wheels, as we live on a fairly busy corner.
Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. We've been here for 5 years now and love it.
Oh and there is plenty of public transport around.
