Refuses to sit on a toilet or potty

My DD is 2.5 years old and I've always heard girls are easier to TT than boys but both my boys were TT before they were 2.5 and yet dd is making no progress at all. She point blank refuses to sit on either a toilet or potty at all. If we even suggests it she gets completely panicky. I have no idea where this fear has come from but she just won't do it. I have no idea how to get her to sit on one. Even if she did nothing on them sitting on it would be a huge step in the right direction. Anyone else had this problem??

I wouldn't worry about it, she's still young and pushing her if she's not ready to learn will make it harder in the long run.

Kids learn and do it when they want to - DS trained just after he turned 3, DD1 was 4 and DD2 was 2 years, 8 months. DD3 is nearly 2.5 and has no interest either but I'm not concerned. Each do it in their own time.

It doesn't sound like she's ready yet. My only advice is to have an 'open door' policy in the toilet. Let her see you sitting on the loo and talk about what you are doing so that she knows what it's for and she sees that it's perfectly normal and safe. I don't think I have been to the toilet on my own for.... Oh, about 10 years now!!

We have always done that, let her come to the toilet with us and her brothers even encourage her and show her how normal it is. She know when she's gone and brings me nappies and wipes when she needs to be changed. Those are the same signs I used when the boys were ready. She is just refusing to sit on the ptty or toilet.

Maybe a special doll or toy she has can 'go' to the potty when you go and she can see how the doll is happy to sit there? My son use to love an audience and even now will sometimes bring in his toy train and any other random thing he is playing with. One day the pear he was eating 'watched' him wee... It made him happy to wee knowing he was on show.
