Cleaning bath toys

Dd has the typical jug, ducks, crab etc for her bath toys. A couple of them seem to have some "darker" matter inside that I assume is mould.

Can I bleach them?

Ditch them?

Suggestions?

I would ditch them. I think bleach would degrade the plastic/rubber.

I know what you mean...I figure they go mouldy because water gets in but can't get out. I try washing them out, but it never all gets out, does it? If you bleach them, the bleach might not all come back out and do you really want bleach with your kids toys? I suppose that means chuck 'em, doesn't it? unless you're happy with mouldy bath toys? Now you're making me feel bad that DS has mouldy bath toys :(

I soak mine in bleach every couple months and then spend the next couple days washing them in soapy water before putting them back in the bath for DD to play with. I use bleach in the shower/bath area to get rid of mould so I figure theres not much difference :)

I reckon chuck em and get her some new ones. That's what we do when mould starts coming out. But I now have preference for solid or sealed toys. At least bath toys tend to be cheap generally.

We ditch ours and buy more. Easy and safe :)
