Medication while BF
I have been prescribed pariet it's for acid relfux .. Iv used it before but now I am breastfeeding my 8 week old ..
The dr said it was fine , but didn't seem 100% about it more like he doesn't know .. Pharmacist told me what he read online which says
"Not enough research has been done on it and people should either not use it or stop breastfeeding "
I called mothersafe hotline she straight away said it was fine to take and that the drug 99% attached to my body and the other 1% was free flowing and that meant that the 1% could go into my milk but would be broken down my the babies stomach acid ..
Basically I am that bad I can't eat or drink properly and I live on liquid medicine which doesn't cut it ..
But I'm so worried a out taking it while feeding DD2
Any help would be really appreciated

Mothersafe is an authoritative source on medications while breastfeeding, and backed up what your doctor said. The medication is safe for you and the baby to take while you are breastfeeding. Unfortunately, the Pharmacist gave you a red herring. Women need to be adequately treated for their medical conditions otherwise breastfeeding fails earlier and there is a significant risk to babies who are not breastfed. Please take the medication and get well.

Thanks so much barb..
Do you know if there is any chance it would effect my milk supply ?

It's ok :)
Just called mothersafe again and they said its very rare for anything to effect milk supply

Do you mean in terms of quantity? that’s correct - it would be very unlikely that medications affect your supply like that.
