My last pregnancy was my 3rd and I felt movements much later than with my first two. Position of the baby & placenta can make a big difference. I was a bit more padded this time around too. I requested an early ultrasound (at around 18 weeks) as I was so worried, but I'd had bleeding/spotting on and off since 12 weeks, so GP was happy to refer me.
How far are you HotI? I didn't really feel this one until 20weeks. The other two I felt heaps earlier. Maybe you have an anterior placenta? Have you had any ultrasounds yet?
Everyone kept telling me I would feel this one earlier, and I didn't feel anything until about 22 weeks.
The more I have the harder it has been to feel them. Apparently because they have more room inside, so their movements are less constricted and therefore less forceful.
I think I would start to worry when I reached the same weeks I'd previously felt bubs move. I think I was feeling consistent movements around 18/19 weeks with the last two so I would use that as a gauge. Are you having ultrasounds?
plenty of room in my tummy, and an anterior placenta, so iy sounds like it's not too out of the norm to not be feeling it yet.
I had just heard that you feel it earlier each time, and it wasn't happening for me.
thank you for reassurance
This is my 3rd pregnancy, and at 18 weeks (with my first anterior placenta mind you) I lost movement. A quick trip to ED and I was put straight into birthsuite to check for a heart rate. All was well, and I was reassured that babe was ok. Like the other two, this one has awake and sleeping times.
Because you're still relatively early, try giving baby a good poke, otherwise, nothing beats peace of mind, its truly priceless xx
1st pregnancy - 17 weeks.
2nd pregnancy - 24 weeks
3rd pregnancy - 22 weeks
4th pregnancy - 22 weeks
5th pregnancy - 18 weeks
Does that help? ;)
I'm currently 19 weeks in my first pregnancy, the baby started moving about a week ago and i would feel it move everyday but now i barely feel the baby move, sometimes a day or two goes by and i dont feel anything. Is this normal?
when are you due for a checkup?? All babies are different with their moving. If you have an inkling something is not ok, I would go with that and get checked out.
I only felt my third baby move a couple of times before 22 weeks. Both of the others were around the 17 week mark.
The Dr will be able to have a feel and listen to the heartbeat tomorrow... you won't need to wait until the ultrasound. Try not to worry, I know that is easier said then done xx
I know it's a late reply HotI, but I saw my dr on Monday afternoon & asked her the same thing. Is was feeling movements at 14 weeks with this one, then nothing for a week or two, then I go a day or two without anything. I also have an anterior placenta. She said they don't tell people to worry about counting kicks til 24 weeks for this precise reason. When they're smaller & particularly when your placenta is anterior, movements are rarely noticeable. I've just realised this week that drinking Ribena works my baby up... Had a glass with dinner & bub is having a party right now. It's only been this week that I've felt movement every day.
i don't think i even have a baby in there. i'm just getting fat and irritable.
Hahahahaha I often wonder and imagine that I go to an ultrasound and the nurse sees no baby, my tummy was just bloated :p
All my girls have been different in the movement stakes.
With DD1 i felt her around the 21 week mark (just from the inside) and around 24 weeks on the outside
with DD2 I felt her first movement at 11w! and it just went from there. I felt outside movement at 14 weeks...and that was with an anterior placenta!
with DD3 I didnt get any consistent movement from the inside until closer (if not after!) 20 weeks. It was also really hard to pick up external movement until i was at the end of the 20s (anterior placenta as well).
