constant headache for almost 3 weeks

Hi, after some thoughts.
My DH has had a constant headache day and night for almost 3 weeks now. Before his he barely ever got headaches and certainly not this painful. He has been to the doctor quite a few times since the headache began and even had a CT scan done last week which didn't show anything significant. He has been prescribed quite a few different drugs for migraines. Tonight was the first time he took Endone. None of the drugs have helped at all so far. I told him to go back to the doctor tomorrow. Any thoughts on what could be going on? What we could try? Thanks. Normally my DH hates going to the doctor but he is obviously in a lot of pain to keep goin back. Thanks.

Hi Travelgirl, I'm no expert but in the past I've had migraines and headaches and found that my prescription for my glasses had changed. Is it worth getting your DHs eyes tested?

Did the Dr order blood tests? Could he be low on a vitamin or something? Perhaps thyroid function?

In the past, I've had headaches arise from - impacted wisdom teeth, sinus infection (no other symptoms), glasses need adjusting, and other teeth problems (needed root canal, pain was referring over my face, ears, etc). I would also suggest that any ear or postural alignment issues (ie crook neck) could create headache problems). Definitely get him back into the dr and if there are no answers send him along to a dentist as well.

Mine are normally linked to sinus infections my sinuses were impacted which caused headaches, dizziness and jaw pain. But that shows on a ct scan. Recently I was getting headaches when my pillow needed replacing as it was putting my neck on a strange angle once I replaced it and saw the osteo they have stopped again.

Is he drinking enough water? Dehydration can cause headaches

My DH had frequent, recurring headaches for which no pain killer/migraine medication helped. CT showed nothing. I eventually persuaded him to try my chiro and he had only one headache while under regular chiro care.

PS also be aware that after taking some painkillers/migraine meds you can get rebound pain when you stop taking them - a trap for some ppl taking stronger meds than they are used to.
