Looking at a 2001 Triton dual cab on diesel (not turbo). Can anyone offer any info, pros and cons?
Friends of ours have one, but it's the current model. They love it but I'm wondering if the older version is as good.
Thanks!

older version engine wise will have less economy, more noise and slower but is a simpler engine and may be cheaper too fix if something goes wrong.
older version won't be as safe or as comfortable, but it depends on how muxh you want too spend and what you want it for.
Not quite the same...but we have a 94 triton ute. Still going strong
HotI - It will be our workhorse. It's the newest aged car we've been able to buy for DH (he is currently driving a dying '95 hiace and prior to that, a '76 Kingswood). So I'm guessing compared to these cars, the triton will be safer and more comfy lol! We're not prepared to spend by more than what this particular car is selling for. As it is, we have to completely kill off our land buying plans for now.
TT40 - Awesome. That's what I need to hear right now. :)
Our last car was a 2004 Triton so before they brought the new shape out. If it is going to be used as a workhorse then I think it will be fine for that purpose. We did like ours (and had it for 7ish years) but in the end we traded it in because: we were using it for long trips and it is not a comfy car for long trips, it didnt have the best fuel economy (ours was the turbo diesel though) and it had the worst turning circle I have ever come across. Seriously be prepared for that it is shocking!
i had an old mitsubishi magna and the turning circle on that was shocking.
will ask DH on comparison between the 95 hiace and the triton. i am sure that will be much nicer.
We bought it. Got a tiny trade in on the van and we're saying so long to our headaches and non-productivity due to the break downs. It's been modified for camping so it will also suit that part of our life and will work beautifully for DH for work. We took it to Mitsubishi this morning and it came up mechanically trumps.
