Ultrasound results - doc won't tell me what it means
Hey guys
I'm new to the whole PCOS condition. I've been having pain during intercourse and no AF for a little while, so GP sent me for an ultra sound. When I had a PET scan earlier in the year for my lymphoma, there was a note about FDG uptake in my ovaries and that my ovaries are bulky but they left it at that.
So the results of my pelvic ultrasound came in today, and the doc literally won't tell me anything. All I was told was ABNORMAL - SEE SPECIALIST AT HOSPITAL. So I've had a referral sent off apparently.
So I grabbed a copy of the report from the radiologist and it says the right ovary is double it's normal size with 22 peripheral follicles and the left ovary is 5 times its normal size and has a 20mm cyst with peripheral vasularity as well as 15 peripheral follicles. There is inflammation and 30cc of free fluid in the pelvis and a follow up study has been suggested.
Does anyone know what this indicates? The radiologist noted that only the right ovary has polycystic appearance so the bigger cyst plus free fluid and inflammation are not linked??
I feel like i'll be waiting for months to get to the bottom of this. I've had abnormal smear results in the past and haven't received my most recent results back yet so i'm not sure if that's anything to link in with it either.
Any of your advice, experience or knowledge in this area would be much appreciated.
