Myth or Not
I went of my bc mid pack end of last month, I'm not sure when or if I ovulated but if my cycle dates are roughly correct I should be CD19 of 28/29. I was told during the course of conversation this week that an OPK can pick up the pregnancy hormone earlier that HPT, so just because I've turned into a poas addict I tried one.
I got a very strong positive, why would I be getting a positive OPK this late? Have I ovulated late? Or is there any truth that it may detect pregnancy?
Please help

I know some people use OPK's as pg tests, but I wouldn't call them more reliable than a HPT. They aren't designed for that. I would say that you are ovulating late - don't forget that you only came off BC at the end of last month - which was just over 2wks ago. It is highly likely that your body is readjusting to not having chemically manipulated cycles and your 'real' cycle may be a bit longer. In theory, you still have 9-10 days left of your cycle - so it is highly unlikely you are pg and you are actually detecting ovulation. It's not impossible you are pg, but just very unlikely.

I've used OPKs when I've known I was pregnant, just to test the theory. HPTs were (obviously) coming up + but neg OPKs.

I have had pos opks late and done a preg test and had it come up pos

I have always Od around CD15 and had extrememly regular cycles, with this bub we were gender swaying so stopped dtd on cd13 hoping the swimmers would be ready to catch the egg on cd15 as per usual, I used OPKs to track things and it turns out I didn't O until CD19, somehow, after 6 days, there was still sperm in there and we conceived the gender we wanted but it's the first time I've every Od so late
