Re: Piercings and Pregnancy.
i have heard of milk sometimes coming out the piercing hole, it depends on where the holes are in relation to the milk path.
i don't think i would feed with piercings in, especially in the early days when working on attachment etc. mmm, thats a tricky one.
ETA - I found this article on ABA page https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfi...ipple-piercing
Re: Piercings and Pregnancy.
If you are on FB, "Dr Jack Newman" 's page has a discussion on nipple piercings and breastfeeding today.
Re: Piercings and Pregnancy.
I took them out while pregnant with our first and breastfed, although not for long but for other reasons, I had them redone before getting pregnant with number two and took them out again and breastfed number two for 6 months.
I still had/have the holes but they are tiny but closed in the middle and blend in with the nipple, I never noticed milk coming out of them.
My concern with feeding was the ends coming off while bub is feeding, for me it was much easier to take them out altogether until our breastfeeding journey was over then have them redone.
*edit* I read the above link and I had no issues with supply, especially after the second bub I would literally be spraying milk out whenever I had a warm shower, it was quite a sight!
Re: Piercings and Pregnancy.
The responses on Dr Jack Newman's thread were quite varied too. Some people had no issues at all, others had many that they attributed to the piercing. Overall, the responses were fairly positive though.
