a cold or not a cold?

DD3 (22months) has a cold, night before last she had a fever too. Today she has what looks like mozzy bites on her chest, face and a couple of her back. Im starting to think she has chicken pox, instead of just a cold? She isn't vaccinated.

Dh had shingles a couple of weeks back, although we all tried to stay away from him, no cuddles and what not whilst he was sick.

She doesn't seem to be scratching them, and besides just the usual whingy cold stuff, and an extra nap she seems pretty normal.

Now my mother guilt is kicking in (if its chicken pox), although I know vax is more of a booster not a guarantee that you won't get it.

Anyhow does it sound like the pox to anyone else?

It's hard to say without seeing it but my kids often get a heat rash with a fever.

They look like mozzy bites, there is one that I can find that has a blister like centre, Im yet to investigate the others cause she won't let me look (which is not unusual)
tbh, I am hoping for a heat rash or mozzy bites, or a reaction to being on a building site the last few days (she's being hanging out with us while we renovate)
She's currently asleep now, and thats not normal. Although she's still eating her usual amount of food.

If it is chicken pox it sounds like it's not too bad.

Don't feel guilty. I haven't done chicken pox vax yet because of lots if reasons, including the doctors fridge being broken the day we went to get it :/

I would try and get to a dr if you can, because you should notify cc etc if it is chicken pox

It sounds like it is chicken pox to me, especially with the timing of your dh having shingles. Has she seen a dr?

I ended up taking her to the drs, and the dr was about 60% sure it's chicken pox, but because the outbreak is so mild it was hard to confirm.
So we're home til she's better. (And as much as that would be awesome, it's hard when we have so much to do, and not enough time to get it all done)

If it is CP it's probably the best outcome, because getting the virus offers lifelong immunity, and bonus that it's only mild. I hope she is better soon.

Hope if it is cp that she doesn't get it again. I had a very mild case as a child and then had a second round a year or so later which was worse but not super bad (probably average case)

Well it's definitely cp, this afternoon dd1 came out in blisters.. Now I'm waiting for the blisters to grace dd2 (fingerscrossed she avoids it though)
Yeah I'm hoping neither of them get much worse than they are at the moment.
Although it's mild I do hope they don't get another bout.

I've had heat rash as well and I notice it will clear up on its own in a few days if the affected area is kept cool and dry. I avoided to much heat and humidity and I use fan or humidifier if needed,if the air is too dry, a cool shower or bath and let your skin air dry, or if you have air-conditioning, use this to cool yourself. Don’t use any type of oil-based product. Calamine lotion and/or hydrocortisone cream can relieve itching and irritation.
