Pet minding - fee

We're going away for two weeks and I need someone to feed my horse while we're gone. I'm going to ask a young girl who lives in our street, she's 14, and I want to pay her.

Horse will be relocated to her paddock so she doesn't have to come and find him. He'll have access to water so it's just food. I'll provide his food.

She will need to feed him morning and night, watering down his food to a mash (he has no teeth). The whole thing takes about ten minutes, morning and night.

If something goes wrong with him health wise while we're away, she'll have the details of my friend who I trust to make decisions as far as his well being goes.

How much do you think is reasonable to pay her? I was thinking around $150 for the two weeks. Do you think that's stingy?

that is no way near stingy! a 14 year old should be stoked by that amount.

As a comparison, I've booked my cat in to a vet boarding service for a week. All food, etc provided. It is costing $18 a day. I think $150 is fine.

Is she a horsey kid? Most of the kids out your way tend to be... :) Anyway, if she is, she would probably do it for free ;) So I think $150 is great.

N2L - We pay $56 per day for our two dogs to be boarded. It's why I thought the $150 for two weeks might be stingy lol.

OP - I don't get the impression she's a horsey kid. They've got a couple of dogs but they only joined the family a couple of years ago. They haven't really had pets otherwise.
