Period started 12 days after last AF stopped

Hi guys,

Currently not TTCing or anything - but for the past two/three months, I've had something like this happening.

November - AF went for 7 days (two days of brown blood, three days of bright red blood, two days of brown blood). AF started again 2 and a half weeks after AF stopped. That would have been bout Nov 12-19 and it restarted again December 4 (started when I was in Melb seeing my mum) and finished 9th December - that AF went for the usual 5 days.

AF then started again on December 31st and was the same as the 7 day one in Nov. Two days of brown blood, three days of bright red blood, and two days of brown blood. It finished Jan 7th. It's now Jan 19th and 12 days after AF had finished, it's started again today. Starting off with brown blood this time.

In those two 7 day-ers, I had no clots or pain or anything like I usually would.


Is there ANYONE that could help me and tell me what they think it could be?? I'm seriously over having AF once every two/three freaking weeks!!! :shakehead::shakehead:

I went through a patch of having "periods" every three weeks (or less) after I weaned DD2, and similar to yours, the actually bleeding pattern was different too. 3 weeks is within the range of "normal" menstrual cycles, but I had it checked out at the GP. She did a few checks (can't remember what, it was a while ago) but concluded it was normal. After that I had surgery for something unrelated and my periods stopped dead in their tracks - apparently stress/trauma can put your hypothalamus out of whack and it can be enough to radically change your menstrual cycle. HTH.

Mine is like this too, my gp told me all my levels were fine and to fix it I might need to go on the pill again I put up with it for a year but am trying accupunture and vitex to correct it as it's leaving me very tired. It feels like as soon as it's over it start again.

are you on any contraceptives? the mini pill gave me frequent periods/bleeding

I'm not on any contraceptive as I've not found one that I won't consistantly bleed with (one point I was bleeding for about 2 months non stop at one point)

I had similar after weaning ds. Hence DD3 ;)

Af was every 8 weeks or so then dropped to every 2 weeks. Continued til I thought I best see a doctor, then it disappeared for 3 weeks & I got my bfp :/

After weaning dd3 same thing happened, but I've been on depo since not long after that, so I only get it every 6 months or so now.

Well I went to the doctor today and he's going to book me to have an u/s. That's on the 3rd Feb so that'll be fun :\

After that, we'll be discussing some contraceptive methods that'll help regulate it. He's already suggested the depo shot and the pill
I'm leaning towards the depo shot, though it's only a 3 month fix it'll give me some relief I guess

When I was on the depo shot I got no period no nothing but others I know bled continuously :( good luck

Yeah depo is a but hit & miss. When I started I had spotting for the first 3 months. Pretty much continuous. That was 10 years ago. I've been on & off it since.
I used to get af at the end of every 3 months. Now its pretty random. I'm not due again til mid feb, but have af now. My 3 months can end & I can go 2 weeks before the next shot & not get af.
Its averaging every 3-6 months at the moment.

I was like you ~clover~ with pretty much every single one of the contraceptive pills.. and mini pill too!

Feb 3rd can't come quick enough tbh

Well, today seems to be it subsiding - I hope... It's gone back to brown.
It's the longest it's lasted out of the past three or so months :( 9 freaking days!

I hope the scan gives you answers huni. I had 6 months of bleeding years ago none stop. I ended up with a d&c and mirena inserted. How you doing? Hugs xx

I'm annoyed that it went on for that long and I'm half expecting it to come again in the next 2 weeks :\
3rd Feb is my u/s - I have a funny feeling they'll request me to have a D + C
