Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
Our puppy dog is about to turn the big 1! On Australia Day  We haven't had a pet where we have known its birthday before, all our other dogs and cats have been adopted from the animal shelter. So we (I) thought we should celebrate her special day! What do you do, if anything? Should I make her a special doggie cake?
Am I completely off my rocker and alone in my addiction to celebration??
Re: Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
We got a kitten from a breeder a few months ago so we know its birthday and it is the same day as DH's so this year we are having a celebration for the cat with pavlova and mantoo.

Re: Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
We usually buy the pet a treat that we wouldn't usually get or a new toy. Sometimes we do forget though and if we do it's no biggy. We do it mainly for the kids sake.
Re: Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
We do :) His birthday is in November and it's usually hot so I make him a doggy iceblock (a bit of salt-reduced chicken stock mixed with water in an old tupperware container, and dog biscuits stirred in) he loves it! He always needs something, so he gets a new collar, mat for his bed or toy or something.

Happy birthday to your pooch!
We celebrate their birthdays but as we only ever have rescues we normally make their birthday the day we adopted them.
Normally they get a yummy dinner of something a little different/special and maybe a toy. DD now adds a card and singing all day etc etc lol
Re: Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
When we were kids our mum would buy the dogs a bone on their birthdays.
I know our pets birthdays but don't celebrate them.
Re: Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
I usually forget.. my poor neglected puppies. However, they are spoiled all the time so don't need any extra special treatment. If I do remember I usually give them a big hug! if my old boy makes it to September this year we will have a big celebration as 12 is a good age for his breed.
Re: Do you celebrate your pets birthdays?
I meant to come back to this! Well we ended up giving her a present, a favourite chew toy that always lasts about 5 minutes so she doesn't get one very often! I also fashioned her a dog shaped cake out of one of those chub type pet food rolls, with a chewy stick shaped treat for a candle...the kids loved it lol.
