The Semi-speedy bug.
Let me preface by saying "semi-speedy" is due to the nature of my prior births; Dj being 31hours all up. and Vic (16 months later) an hour and 43mins
When DH and I found out we where expecting #3 we where shocked. as our second "sneaky supprise" we knew this one would be our last, due on jan 19. and we also knew it'd be the most stressful pregnancy of them all - knowing now what we did about Dj - we made the choice to have Amnio done - for our own mind and knowing if something came back the choices where to be made. for me knowing it could also trigger a misscarrage scared me more then anything, along with the wait was really, really soul testing, not helped by the clinic we went though faffing around and telling us they'd know one lost of results in three days then faffed us up with the second being 10 days later which then became 16 and i was told that i should not have expected it any quicker.
The actual physical pregnancy was fairly text book. copped hand foot & mouth at 6 weeks, then regular MS from 9 - 13 weeks. after the results from the amnio came back DH knew the sex of Bugaboo (bugs) i didnt. i never found out with our boys so whats another 6ish months of waiting right? i had a feeling bugs would be a girl, but there is always a chance of being wrong in that!
seeing as we'd also moved since Vics birth, it was a new hospital, new midwifes new system. i went with community midwives - the best compromise between a homebirth an and hopsital as DH felt better about it which was fine. the midwife, K that i was picked up by was brilliant listened to my history and what i wanted for my final birth. she was open and honest and very willing to try and accommodate what i wanted. she was fine with me not doing the GTT, and delaying the GBS testing until 39 weeks.
All tests came back fine that i did do. GBS - for the first time was negative :leap: which was a big thing for me. at my last appt at 39+4 bugs was fully engaged, a strech and sweep (i asked for one) showed the cervix was "loaded and waiting to be shot from" nice, but vic's quick labour was on the forfront of *both* our minds. also seeing as 10 days "post dates" seemed that was "d day" so we worked it out so i'd have at least three more strech and sweeps done plus the other moitoring they wanted done.
EDD rolls around (sunday the 19th). after a week of high temps. DH started leave the next day which we both expected at least 10 days of waiting. as we had both other times. monday rolls around and im a little more "oh, there is a skull lodged in my pelvis and its not nice" but was most content sitting on the fit ball or on the back step, on a thick cushion - which bugged DH as he wanted the place "clean JIC something happend. but it was the only place i could happily sit with the boys while he did the massive clean up i'd not been able to do much of due to said heat (temps of 44Âșc which was more like 50 in the direct sun in the kitchen.)
tuesday night rolls in and i get the odd pang of pain. but thinking i still had more then a week to go - both times before i'd gone in to labour on day 10, birthed on day 11 and day 10 of over dueness. so i figured it was just owwie BH it was maybe once every hour. we also had a neighbour come back, unexpectedly from the fire clean up in the west of the state and he came around to say Hi and let us know he was home and all that and check up on me... then once he left as night drew in it was maybe twice and hour nothing that stopped me in my tracks i figured again it was my body getting ready, hell i'd had BH in this preg. and not in eather of the boys ones so i thought it was just something new again, i managed to lock up and check on the chooks and ducks with only one pain worse when i squated down to check how many where in the one roost hole thing.
i head to bed around midnight with Vic after watching some cartoons on youtube with him. i wake around... 2ish with some more owwie BH. about 2.15 i start wriggleing though them. so thought i'd best get up and see if that stopped them slowed them down. at 3am i wake DH up saying "some movement at the station... dont get up but just so you know" and walked off. Dh gets dressed and comes to me - at the other end of the house for the hope of keeping the boys asleep. he asks if i'd changed sheets on the spare bed and i said no. that was on the agenda for today (again plans for being 10 days over i had stuff to do each day to make sure everything was done and i wasnt twiddleing my thumbs or waiting for something to happen) so he changes them. asks for clean ones. i tell him where they are and they had two pink stains from where a red towl had been put on them when wet...what not to ask a labouring women "are you sure thease are clean.. they where in the cupboard with the clean stuff and smell clean" i promptly told him "yes they are clean they where folded up and in the cupboard right?" then i go back to the loo... and it gets more owwie. so i walk around the kitchen but always back to the loo with this i start to make a bellowy/rawring/primal sound. inform DH he better call a neighbour, who is with in running distance. i call my midwife. she is the one on duty that shares with mine; i'd never met her (oppsie) so i explain im in labour. (duh) and she asked how close the contractions where - i told her "near enough for me to want to come in" and explained i had a 31hr (rawr) labour with Dj and only an hour with Vic but this had been going for over an hour and a half " which she then asked where my husband was.... which i explained he was some where between our house and the neighbours - Oh look there's a door now.. DH ran to the neighbours house and bashed on the door. to get him to come down.
The neighbour walks in and asks "how are you?" and i look at him tell him "how do you think i am?" and walk off to the loo and rawr/bellow through thease doubble pointed contractions.
as we leave Dj wakes but cuddles up to the neighbour. i get the very last of the labour bag stuff (toletries and a brush) and thrust them into DH's chest. as he walks past the back of the ute i growl at him to "get labour bag now, put back seat lock canopy NOW" he follows this demand. i sit down on tarp (which he put in the night before) and while he faffs about another contraction hits so i rawr it out, in our front yard no giving two hoots who hears. (thankfully we're rural so i just blended in with the bovine population) attempt #2 to get into the car. was a winner. an we're off. DH asks about my seatbelt - as i rawr as quietly as i can - then put it on - so its not touching my belly (i held it away) reclined the seat a heap and cursed out every.single.pot hole'pit mark and larger pebble on the road. make it into town. i demand DH goes one way he ignores me - and i now admit his way was the same as mine - less round abouts and we got the lights in our favor.
we got to the hopsital after a few more bellowed contractions passed. i got out of the car, managed to get my antinatal book thingy and throw it at DH barking "BAG NOW" and a contraction hit. i made a hell of a noise though it. i didnt care it was 4am and i was in the middle of a street in town.
get to A&E and had a nurse tell me i was going in a wheel chair. i said "like i am sitting down" i had another tell me the head was there and i said "no, no its not this is my third the head is NO WHERE near 'there' i am walking to maternity now" and they had to "check" to make sure. then let me walk; which they wherent too happy about, but frankly if i had of sat down i'd have jumped up with each contraction and walked any way. get to maternity and get shown a birthing room. the paceing starts. and the grunting. check off name, DOB, address and phone number - DH says yes to each bar my name i just look at him. go for a pee... then keep paceing.
this keeps up for maybe 45mins then transition hits.. but something is "wrong" something isnt moving... i actually asked for a VE - my mind was screaming something was wrong. sure enough. 9.5cm - a cervial lip on the left. next contraction the MW moved it. i go pee, have a contraction that makes me think i could rip the rail out of the wall. back to the bed, which was sitting almost up right me holding onto it. begging "please please no more please" over and over again. then pop, gush. waters broke, mec stained and i look at the midwife and say "see, mec. i told you something was wrong" and the pushing started... but not full force, agian something holding me back... and i said something to that effect and another midwife tells me to push and i told her im scared that my baby will be sick, again. she told me this was another baby, that this baby is their own person... i start crying at that point and felt the surrender. the pushing hit... dureing one contraction i rawred my grandmothers name. then i felt it. that god almighty shift. the head was moving though my pelvis. again i rawr and start wimpering to help me. please help me. over and over. then the pushing started again and i bellow again i fell the burn. that fire below that is the crowning... then shellow breaths as it comes, turning then push and bugs slides out. blood, sweat, tears and poo. i go to move bugs after checking out what sex bugs is, and SNAP her cord snaps. i now have a baby, and what seems to be at a glance a giant, bleeding, tampon string between my legs. they take bugs over to clamp her remaining cord after DH cuts it. we have a baby girl. DH knew from 18 weeks after the genetic tests came back, i only had my feeling of her being a girl. but bugs was a Miss bugs.
I expected a 10lb'er after Vics 9lb6.5oz birth weight. but no, little miss Bugs weighed in at 7lb 13oz. my smallest baby, also only 50cm long. with an amazeing head full of hair, compleat with natural blonde high lights. and her mummas deep blue eyes (which if like vic will end up green) she also got a+ blood, unlike my boys a- so something from dh.
post birth was scarely normal. as in we where discharged after 24hrs. ( :jawdrop: as with both boys it was a week+ in hopsital) we had to come back on day four for phototherpy due to jandace but she roomed in with me *even under the lights* and i was left to my own devices as i knew how to do do temps before each feed, mark down wee/poo/vomit and attachment as well. also managed to get a wee sample and a little bit of study too. then home again. on day 3 she had only lost 60g from her birth weight. by day 6 she'd gained 160g - which is impressive as she's fully BF and on demand. shes still getting h
