Clots
So my bleeding post baby had died down a lot and was on the browner side, would probably barely fill a quarter of a pad a day.
A couple nights ago I had severe pain above my pelvic bone that didn't go for a good half hour and then gradually got better.
Tonight I have fresh red blood and passed a clot the size of fresh prune/plum....decent enough size I felt it and freaked myself out by the size.
Is this normal or should I be calling my ob tomorrow?
What could cause it?

Re: Clots
I would call. My midwife asked me about my loss at every post natal visit, even when I'd already said it had almost stopped. My uterus took a long time to go back to normal size - have they said anything about fundal height to you? Mine stayed right up there for ages but stayed firm, so they weren't too worried. She just continued to ask just in case there was anything left behind.

Re: Clots
I remember being freaked out by a large clot too, gave me a bit of a fright! I believe passing clots for a couple of weeks after childbirth can be normal, but keep an eye on anymore blood loss or a fever developing, and especially anymore pain. These can be signs of infection. It's worth calling your ob to get their opinion though.

Re: Clots
Teeki: they had been checking my fundal height in hospital and it was contracting down well
I rang the ob today and he said to see how it goes today, if there is more red blood or clots to go in tomorrow and he'll check me.
The blood seems to have gone back to brownish, occasionally red, but no more clots since, just a bit more blood.
He did mention it could just have been my body doing what it was meant to and getting rid of the left overs by itself. Let's hope so!

Re: Clots
That's the most likely cause, hopefully you don't have any more!
