Clomid, ewcm and negative tests

Hi ladies

So we're doing our first cycle on Clomid to help conceive #2 with pcos and no male factors.

I took 50mg on cd 3-7 and bd every other day from cd 12 to 24. I had no symptoms of ovulation at all until day 18 when I had copious amounts of ewcm for a coupleof days. So I didn't have the day 21 blood test because I usually ovulate on cd 20 when I do have a natural cycle. Fast forward to today, and I got the results of my day 28 blood test, and it was negative :( I'm so confused, I was so sure I ovulated.

Anyone have any ideas or can share their experiences with me? Is it at all possible that I ovulated but missed the window for the blood test? Or if I did in fact ovulate earlier, could I be pg now? I haven't tested and have no plans to for a few days.

EWCM is usually a fantastic indicator of ovulation but it can sometimes appear if the body almost ovulates / tries to ovulate but for whatever reason doesn't. It can also look exactly like female post-orgasm juices, which I've found can take a day to come out as discharge, if it does come out (not always). If you DTD is there a chance it could be that?

Thanks for your reply Ladylove. I would say it was definitely ewcm. From past cycles I know what It's like and i always get af 14 days after.

Just so disappointed, I really thought we were in with a chance this cycle. Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess.

I did 3 cycles of clomid, 2 x 50mg and the last at 100mg. My last cycle I had an ultrasound and there were 2 dominant folicles OB was convinced I would ov in the 3 days after, I had EWCM. AF was 12 days late, I tested and tested and then remembered to call for my day 22 blood tests where it appeared I never ovulated....
No idea what happened but all the signs where there and nothing happened. I think clomid messed me up that cycle.

Both my boys are a result of Clomid - 50mg - 2nd cycle and then 1st cycle.

I would suggest using Ovulation kits & temping. I never went for my Day 21 blood tests (I hate needles), and I didn't need to. Based on my temps and the results of the Ovulation kits, I was able to pinpoint exactly when I ovulated.

I also used pre-seed, because I didn't tend to get much EWCM, and both times I used it, I got pregnant :)

Thanks Joeve and Connie Melb for your input. At least I know it's not totally odd that I had all the signs but didn't ovulate. I think I will give tempting a go this cycle for sure. Will speak to my specialist tomorrow and see where we go from here. Thanks again girls Xo

You may have ovulated later or earlier, or not at all... that's the not so wonderful world of PCOS. :)

Thanks girls! Well today is cd 32, going to test in the morning on the off chance that I did ovulate earlier. Is is possible to ovulate with no symptoms at all? Otherwise, I just spoke with the nurse, and I'm to increase my clomid to 100mg. Fingers crossed i get af naturally, otherwise I have to do another round of provera, starting Thursday Xo

Are you getting u/s monitoring and bt apart from the day 21 one?

Nope, just the day 21 bt. I'll see how I go this round, and then ask for monitoring I think. Also trying to reduce the effects of the pco and am exercising everyday, limiting sugar, and eating a low gi diet.

hi hun, no experience with clomid but i will fill you in on my experience.

i ovulate very late into my cycle (cd 20, 21, 22, 23) & i have a very short LP (8 days) i was temping & charting myself so i knew when i ovulated. but i wanted to get the 21 bt anyway. we got the results back & my GP told me i hadn't ovulated...... & told me we won't be able to fall pregnant & to TTC in months to come. i was so angry because i KNEW i had ovulated, i know my body, i had positive OPKs, i was tracking my CM etc.

long story short..... we fell pregnant that cycle!!! i'm now 18 weeks along. even though the 21 bt said i didn't ovulate. i'm not meaning to give you false hope... but i would never rely on the 21 bt personally. maybe it misses something if you ovulate really early or late, i don't know.

Thanks for sharing your experience mummy&daddy2be. What day did u have the bt on, given you don't ovulate till later? And you're not giving me false hope, I just want as much information as possible to give myself the best chance of conceiving.

Surprise surprise I got a bfn this morning with fmu :( So I'm not pregnant based on early ovulation. Waiting for Thursday now, and if no af by then, I'll start provera again.
