School recommendations in Sydney please

We are moving our family from Brisbane to Sydney in the near future and I would like to get some recommendations for some good little schools , both primary and high school ...if there are even any 'little' schools in Sydney. At this stage we are looking between Cherrybrook and Bella Vista, or possibly out Emu Plains /Penrith way.

Also would like to know of any schools that you would avoid if you had a choice thanks.

While it's a couple of years until my oldest starts school, I'm really hoping for him to go to Lorien Novalis. I've heard lots of good things.
