Red, rough cheeks

Not sure what to do? For the last week or so my 10mo has had red, rough, ever so slightly scaly cheeks, I'm thinking either windburn or maybe from him drooling when he sleeps on his stomach? They don't seem to bother him but I'm worried about them potentially getting painful if they get worse. I have some moisturizer but it's Johnson's and I'm a bit iffy about any of their stuff, my other option is some pawpaw ointment. Of course I could just always leave it, I'm just not sure if it'll turn into a problem later on. He has also started coughing a bit tonight but I'm pretty sure that's completely unrelated

My son often got red rough cheeks and it was from his drool, particularly around teething.
We found a really think moisturizer worked well. We had a special moisturizer for his eczema with cetamacrogol, but I think something like vaseline would work well too. The important thing was that it didn't irritate the skin but made a good barrier against the drool. Good luck!

Paw paw cream would work. I used to cover ds1 in pawpaw before swimming due to eczema as a barrier cream & moisturiser.

My DD has this. She has always had it snd people used to comment on her red cheeks in photos all the time saying oh teeth etc. I found this lovely natural cream at a chemist called carolines cream it works really well. I don't use it all the time just when she gets red. Of course I'm on holidays now and forgot to pack it and the local chemist doesn't stock it! I think you can order it online if you google the name.

DD2 had this from teething/drool. I used coconut oil.

Be careful with the pawpaw - a friend's DD actually had a reaction, and the mumma thought that it was getting worse, so was applying it more ...

I had the same thing actually, when I had a reaction to the Aloe Vera gel I was using on some windburn!

Pure lanolin was the only thing that helped when DD had this problem.

Dd2 gets this when she had a cold or teething. QV moisturizer works well for her.
