Car suggestions

I will be selling my 7 seater Kluger at the end of the year and will be looking for a "smaller" 5 seater. Something with decent leg room in the back as my 8yo is nearly 140cm tall so is just going to get bigger.

I want to spend $20-$25K on something about 18m old. Don't want a Ford or a Holden. Preferably nothing too expensive to fix or repair or maintain, low on fuel consumption, won't lose too much value. I don't want a "standard" Camry/Commodore/Falcon - needs to be a bit "classier" for my job as I occasionally drive to work.

One suggestion has been a Mazda CX-5. They're only about 2 years old, and in my price range. DP has a CX-9 which has been awesome.

Anyone got one? Anyone know anyone who got one? What should I look for?

Any other suggestions?

I have nothing...except I have a Honda and she's still going strong after 23years, such a trooper, will be running forever. Only problem with Hondas is parts are a bit more exy as only Honda parts fit. But I love my girl.

I have a cx7 and am in absolute love with it. Although I do wish I had of got the 9 with the extra row for the every now and then that I require them.
Otherwise I'm really happy with it.

Love our Subaru Forester :-) we did go the top of the range one (manual premium XT Turbo) but even the base models are nice!

We just got a 2012 Toyota Rav4 and I am in love with it!! The Cruiser model is a step up from the base model and looks a lot nicer.
I got one with sat nav, reverse camera and BT/iPod connectivity.
Awesome boot space, plenty of room inside and lots of storage spaces.

I have a Hyundai ix35.
Plenty of room, all the usual (sat nav, reversing camera, heated seats)
The best bit? 5 year unlimited km warranty.
Love it

Only feedback I can offer is the CX5 is around the same size as a RAV4 in legroom/headroom.

A friend of mine has a cx5. It's a lot smaller than I expected but it is a nice car.

I love my Kia Sorento

I have a Rav 4 and LOVE it! Have had it forever now, so it is a smaller version to the newer ones which I believe are more roomy. Love it so much that when we get our next car I will be upgrading to a newer Rav. Only problem I have had in, I dunno 8ish years, is a main belt broke a few months back- admittedly I hadn't had it serviced for 18 months either :redface: Our second car we have changed 3 times in the same period. Says a lot for our Rav really :)

I don't know about most other people, but I wouldn't look at a barrister who drove a 'less classy' car like a commodore or a camry and make any judgements because of it! Perhaps if you turned up in a combi van or something, but I wouldn't think an average sedan to be a non classy car.

Ford, Holden and Toyota are cheap to service.
Hyundai ix35 are good - not sure on servicing costs though

Capped price. Around $250 I think from memory. Not enough to make me really pay attention ITMS?

Subaru Outback - not cheap to service but a great car that can handle dicey roads and city streets.
Just a bit classier looking than an SUV too...

I third the Subaru outback! Me and DH just bought one and I absolutely love it. It's lovely to drive, extremely responsive, and it just looks and feels very luxurious to drive.

Geez I should get a job at a Subaru dealership with that pitch!

I did a lot of research and am extremely happy with my choice!

A friend of mine just bought a second hand Honda Accord. It's is such a classy looking car, has leather interior and all the extras.

They went out to Berwick to purchase as it was a private sale and got a bargain at only $13,000. Low Km's and one owner.
