Girl characters
I've had names picked for my babies for years, before I had even seriously considered having kids. But for some reason, I'm rethinking my girls name I've picked for Quark (if she is a girl).
I still love the name I had, it is a character in a book, and a rare name, but that is it...it doesn't have that extra meaning, that extra personal bit I feel I need. It is just a character and a name I love. Spock is a book character name, but I had a special connection with that character, and there is a second hidden meaning to her name that only I know.
So please people, spam me with female characters, book or movie, but must be strong characters. Females who can stand on their own. Also names that aren't common, would prefer rare or at the least uncommon.
Middle names are locked in. They are Y(with 2 syllables) D(1 syllable). Our last name starts with P, and first syllable is a fruit, second is the 's' part of DS. (Cryptic enought;) )
As an extra, something I discovered after I named Spock is her name is a Shakespear name, and so is my real first name. So would be an extra level if it had a Shakespear connection.
Spam away girls, I need lists to go through!! If you know the meaning of the name too, and even a bit about the character would be great.
Thankyou!,

Re: Girl characters
Catherine. Plenty of characters. And Katharine is Shakespearean.
-
Re: Girl characters
I've always been quite partial to Warcraft lore so probably not a lot of Shakespeare crossover but definite strong characters...
Jaina
Sylvanas
Ysera
Alexstraza
Maiev
Garona
Azshara
Tyrande
Valeera

Re: Girl characters
Esme, Gytha, Magrat (or Margaret), Agnes (or Perdita X), Eskarina, Tiffany... I like Pratchett's witches.
The Narnia girls all had normal names (Polly, Susan, Lucy, Jill), but some of the minor characters may be ok. Very few women were given names though.
Thusday, from the Bookworld books.

Re: Girl characters
Cordelia was a name from one of my favourite books, I think it's also a Shakespearean name.
-
Re: Girl characters
I have a close friend who is called Cordelia, she hates it and gets ppl to call her something else, pity cause i love it but would feel weird using it.
Dh suggested Phenoix...but i still picture it as a boys name.

Re: Girl characters
That could be awkward. Celia or Cecelia are similar. I quite like Celia but don't know of any characters with that name, it is Shakespearean though.

Re: Girl characters
Ha, I was about to suggest a character from a book I'm reading at the moment. Then I realised it's only a few letters off your Spock's name! That won't work
DW names alright? You could always go Martha - she met Shakespeare :p
Cassandra?

Re: Girl characters
Thanks for your suggestions girls. I think I have found the name!
My problem is, before I was pg but dh and I were sure what we were having next. So I always thought of this bub as "o" but now the pg is progressing I know it's not "o", maybe it's because it is a boy, and throwing me completely, but I needed a female back up.

Re: Girl characters
I read an awesome series of books, the lead character is a cop (I love crime and murder mystery). Her name is Eve Dallas :)
-
Re: Girl characters
I knew a Dallas in high school.
What about Ophelia or Oswin?
-
Re: Girl characters
Beatrice (I looooooove this name, but can't work it with our surname :( )
Emilia
Iris
Ursula (might seem odd at first, but I know a little Ursula who *rocks* it)
And it's getting pretty common, but there's an Audrey in As You Like It.
Also, as for books, Aussie author Kate Morton uses all of my favourites in her books.
