Seems ironic that one the eve of World Breastfeeding week

We seem to have concluded a journey that has gone for over 6 years for me.
DD2 managed fine while i was away for the weekend, and after nearly 2.5 years of feeding to sleep, then made the transition to her own bed without even asking.
While I'm sad it's over forever, I am totally ready. I had had enough a long time ago. She has asked a couple of times in the wee hours but didn't even fuss when I said no. Just rolled over and went back to sleep.
While it wasn't totally baby led, it was gentle enough.

You've done a great job Kim. Congrats on your new step in life. It was really bitter sweet for me too when my #3 weaned, under similar circumstances to you guys.

Must be something in the air. My DS2 announced last night that he didn't need milk anymore, and that he would sleep in his own bed, thus simultaneously ending my breastfeeding & co-sleeping journey (breastsleeping anyone :-) ) I am not nearly as zen as you sound, because even though I've been expecting the BFing to finish (he's 4 and a bit), I wasn't expecting him to decamp to another room just yet. And I have bawled my eyes out in quiet moments. Still, 7 years and 2 weeks BFing all up, a job well done all things considered :-)

HotI - I was lucky enough to see all his presentations. Amazing weekend, I am still on a bit of a brain buzz from it all.

Onthefly - LOL, I just had to google the meaning of ftw ;-) There were two main versions I found, I'm going with the more positive of the two..
