When nesting makes you do insane things...
So I'm in the process of doing home improvements without DH knowing... Not that he will care, but it's this uncontrollable urge to just do stuff, mainly stuff that has been bugging me for years.
I will let you know if I'm successful... Cause it could all turn pear shaped =\
But what insane things have you done in the name of nesting??
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
I attempted to stock the freezer with meals but it took me 2 days to make a spanakopita.
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
I made curtains the day I went into labour with my first. I hung them 3 hours before my water broke.
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
I lay awake all night obsessing about my dirty Venetian blinds - got up at 5am to start cleaning!
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
I built new yards on the stables and a new room on the back of the house (well a builder did that). I did paint said room only a month before I was due. We also got new rainwater tanks at the stables and one new one up the house.
Weird ...................yep!
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
Baby number one I found myself reorganising the hard drive at work - shared files of 28 staff and it was annoying me that nothing was filed consistently. Never bothered me before... but suddenly at 34 weeks pregnant I was staying late just to fix it. Baby was born the next week.
Baby number two I washed windows (in defiance of pelvic instability), emptied, sorted and repacked the walk in robe, linen cupboard, pantry and laundry and cooked till I was having to store stuff at mum's house. I washed the car, cleaned the car seats and had the laundry empty of any washing at all.... (I know!). I said to the receptionist at work that I finally felt on top of things and could now put my feet up... went into labour the next day.
Baby number three I was obsessed with the garden which hadn't been touched in years. I had the worst pelvic instability of the lot, but in just couldn't leave a weed if I saw it. I remember talking to my neighbour over the fence and losing concentration on what he was saying because there was a weed in the path next to my feet and it was bugging me SO MUCH.
Nesting makes me craaaaaazy.
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
One of my babies I was on my hands and knees with a knife cleaning out the grooves of the floorboards in the WHOLE house just days before she arrived. I had a vaccum going to suck up the stuff coming out as I scrapped... they were unfinished boards and the grit in the cracks drove me nuts... they looked awesome when I finished! With baby number four I washed and waxed all the blinds and windows in the whole house, along with scrubbing all the walls in every pregnancy... there were many things I did.. I am sure more will come back to me!
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
These are fantastic girls! Makes me seem not so crazy ;) keep them coming!
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
Suffering from bad pelvic instability at 39 weeks I decided I had to weed the back lawn by hand...... Getting down on the lawn was hard enough but you should have seen me trying get back up
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
I had a similar experience Em_325!
With my first at 38 weeks pregnant and only an hour before my waters broke I got all angry at the kangaroo paw plant that wasnt yet planted so I waddled out and got down and dug a hole, shoved it in and then spent the next 25 minutes trying to get back up on my feet hahahahaha.
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
Hehe weeding is one of my things, mainly the bindis, but our yard is 80% weeds, 20% grass (back yard is 100% weeds! some taller than me,). So frustrating cause I just want to rip them all out!! But physically can't =(
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
Just last weekend (33 weeks pg) I dug out 3 plants from our front garden so I could remove the native grass that had seeded with it. I could have sworn I was going to go into labor that night from the strain but I had asked hubby to do it twice which hadn't yet happpened and I couldn't face even packing my hospital bag without it done.
I am currently on a mission to declutter and clean the entire house, just the kitchen to go now, before this baby can even think about coming. I even sorted through all the medications and diposed of all the expired ones.
Re: When nesting makes you do insane things...
The weeds had me near tears, because I couldn't get down and remove them all, though I tried until DH would send me inside to rest. I was allowed to do only 15min a day.
I was desperate to clean every inch of the walls and floor, and at one stage was directing my Mum, of all people, on how to clean the skirting boards properly. I scrubbed the grout in the shower with a toothbrush. Then couldn't get back up again.

I've a list in my head ...I would really love to have the whole house repainted inside. The couch professionally cleaned. All new and matching storage containers for every cupboard and wardrobe. Carpet ripped up and wood flooring laid. Seriously doubt will do any of that, it's all driving me batty though!
