I am pretty sure nurofen is s no go but panadine is OK
Hey Cat, you shouldn't be taking nurofen when pregnant.
Probably best to ring the pharmacist? I know I could take panadiene forte when I was pregnant and had a nasty kidney infection, but best to check with the professionals
If you can get a script, mersyndol forte or panadeine forte worked for me during pregnancy. I still take merysndol forte now when I get migraines. I found none of the OTC meds worked for me.
Another that took Mersyndol/Mersyndol forte. Knocked me out, but definitely helped
Paracetamol and neurofen can cause problems in T1, from what I read, so should be ok to take now. I did have nurses say both were fine when I was in hosp at 8w pg and offering them. A lot.
Migraine meds are untrialed in pregnancy so there is no "safe" med (looked into this while ttc). Up to you what you take, but I was warned off Imigran by a midwife so I'm without meds too now.
I wasn't allowed imigran at all. Not at any stage. I think what PP said - they are untested.
I didn't know that about nurofen... Thanks ladies.
I made it through work - didn't have a choice we were super busy - I jus ran to vomit a few times not sure if that's the migraine or still morning sickness - I did have two days of spew free...
I'll go see my doctor tomorrow.
Yeah I know my migraine meds are off limits... Although the neuro did say as a once off it might be helpful instead of making it go into a cluster...
What about maxalon? I can't remember back that far? Maybe that might help a tiny bit.
You already know your stuff about panadol, but it can be taken quite a lot. I'm not sure how you make it to work. I can't imagine anything more that just lying in bed with a heat pack.
Nurofen is a blood thinner, like aspirin, so can't be taken through pregnancy. That's my understanding anyway.
Paracetamol and codine are are okay though. Mersyndol is what helped me. I was having headaches every few days in the second trimester. Ended up going to an osteo for the rest of the pregnancy which was great. Helped in so many ways.
But speak with your dr and or pharmacist. They will know better than us.
Got some panadine to help. Still fighting with the daily headaches. :(
I use panafine extra. I was told to have 1 panadol and 1 panadine extra... seem to work ok for me. If I have a migraine I take 2 extras..
Migraines suck :-(
Have taken a panadol/codeine combination... It's not working.
No, I doubt that would work. :( Not for a migraine. It sucks when you can't take 'real' medicine! Did you look into maxalon? I know, I know, you're thinking what for, but a paramedic assured me that they always give it when someone calls an ambulance for a migraine. In combination with something else, but he told me it was evidence based. You never know. Anything to take the edge off. But I'm not sure if it's preggo safe.
Are you allowed to visit an acupuncturist? Costly, but maybe worth a shot.
I've taken a maxalon this morning to help with the nausea.
Had a massage this morning but my migraine is still raging
Migraines suck so much when pregnant... Migraines suck so much anyways :(
