Re: Homebirth General Discussion #23
Hi all,
Still here. Still pregnant.
Few dramas have emerged in the last week. I now have no midwife. She expressed concerns about my history and location and decided she was no longer comfortable supporting me at home.
So we've booked into the local hospital only to be turned away in early labour on Wednesday due to my birth choices.
I then chose to move to the next hospital, a large tertiary hospital, and what we thought was established labour, stopped. I was contracting 1-2 mins apart, lastnight 1-2 mins long for 5 hours. As soon as we made the decision to move to hospital, things stopped and upon agreeing to a VE was found to only be 2cm.
I am now back at home on the farm and have decided not to leave at all. It could be a risky decision given my history an our location and also that I don't have the support of my partner on free birthing but I have learnt now that moving away from home in labour is not for me. It interrupts my mind space too much.
So that's where we are at for now. 38 weeks today!
I hope you're all well xx
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #23
Hope everything goes smoothly Ilithyia!
I had my first ever nightmare about giving birth last night. It was awful and I woke up in a panic. Ive never had this happen before but I think it was triggered by a letter I got from the hospital I decided to book into as a backup. Aside from waking up in a not so nice way it helped me realise I have absolutely made the right choice to home birth.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #23
Wishing you a beautiful birth Ilithyia
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #23

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #23
You are spoilt for choice here EssTee :)
There are several PPM (private practice midwives), some medicare eligible if $$ is something you want to factor in, or not if cost doesnt matter.
I see My Midwives Perth (Tamzin). There is also the Concious Conception and Birth Centre down SOR, Ive heard great things about all the midwives there but Ive personally met Melissa Buck and she is awesome! There is also Calmic Birth which Ive heard lots of positive things about; also I know Abbey Rhodda from The Nest on Silas in Freo and she would have been my second choice hands down.
