GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
I'm currently 14w 5d, my second pregnancy. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during my first pregnancy, but it was all resolved within a few weeks of giving birth. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the GTT is performed earlier in pregnancies after you've already had one pregnancy affected by GD?
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
My last pregnancy they had had changed protocol at my local hospital and were testing anyone that had a factor that might point to GD again. They did this at 15-16weeks. So yes they could do it at your hospital too.
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
I had GD with #7 and just had #8. I expected them to want to test me earlier with #8 but they tested me at the usual time of 26 to 29 wks. I had to have the 2 hr test, instead of pre GD being able to have the 1hr test. I expected to have GD again but i didn't.
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
I had insulin controlled GD with DS. When I was pregnant with DD1 I opted to do finger ***** monitoring from around 26 weeks. I did it until around 34 weeks but nothing happened so I gave up. I did a few random tests with DD2 that never showed anything elevated and all the pee sticks for glucose were always clear.
Good luck, hope you don't get it this time around xx
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
I had GD with my first. Didn't have earlier testing with my 2nd, still 28 weeks, but did the 2hr test straight off, not the 1hr one. Didn't have GD with number 2.
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
I had GD with DS1 and they did early testing for this pregnancy at 14 weeks. I do have it again, though managed with diet. GL!
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
Thanks all! I'm 15 weeks tomorrow, and I've got an OB appointment this afternoon, so as long as I remember to ask the question, I'll have an answer :)

Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
OB has said I can wait until 26 weeks for the glucose tolerance test - hurrah!
Re: GTT in second & subsequent pregnancies
