Anyone with a bladder the size of a pea ? !!

Hi everyone,
I'm kind of new in this forum - so hello !

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and i'm finding that not only do i have to go to the toilet every 5 mins...... i've also been suffering from bladder infections. It's driving me crazy !My doc has put me on safe antibiotics for that (it still feels a bit scary!) so hopefully i'm starting to manage it.
Also just wondering if anyone suffers from a painful bladder after waking up in the middle of the night and obviously needing to go to the toilet for a while ? Sometimes the pain seems to last long after i've been to the toilet.
I'm due to go away this coming weekend for 10 days overseas and i'm starting to get a bit anxious things won't completely clear up. Fingers crossed i haven't experienced any morning sickness as yet.
Would love to hear if anyone has experienced anything like this ?

Hi Jupiter.
Congrats on your pregnancy. From 4 til around 11 weeks I have suffered from 2 minute bladder syndrome too. Although I have not had any bladder infections during my pregnancy, but I have had some prior and something I found really helps is drinking more water. I know you're thinking you'll be on the loo even more regularly (and you will), but if you can get 3 litres of water in a day, you will be able to flush out the infection. Believe me, after a few days you will feel the relief. Good luck and enjoy your o/s trip !

I hear yah - oh i'm sick of running to the toilet to either pee or spew!!!!
I also suffer from a lot of bladder infections and actually had to see a kidney specialist during and after my last preg - so i suggest you mention it to your Dr and they should look into it further for you. The cranberry juice is good - or cranberry tablets - which are more concentrated...and definately keep up frequent water intake. Wishing you a H&H preg :D

Oh, i know exactly how you feel :hug: I have had bouts of UTI's over the past few years and I doubt there is anything worse!

Usually tho, I only get them after um um ... a big session of :bd: !!

But recently since I have been preganant, I have been feeling the syptoms on and off, but not as bad as a full blown UTI - just the burning after I go and feeling as though I haven't properly emptied my bladder (sorry TMI). Ive tried drinking heaps of water but this seems to make it worse :eek:

Jupiter, I feel for you! I have the pea sized bladder too, but no UTIs THANK GOD! I've only had one before and I never want one again! OW! The cranberry stuff is meant to be great, the only other suggestion I can make is to take a filled script for ABs overseas with you, so you don't get stuck. I would definitely be doing this! Oh and make sure you take a letter with you from your doc stating what the drugs are etc etc, JIC you get asked.

i know exactly how you feel - no ideas on how to make your bladder last longer - i thought it was a form of torture last friday having to hold a litre of water in for my scan only to find out my bladder was too full!!!

you realise that other people have been through this before as well ! (even though i feel sorry for anyone who's ever had a UTI !) I had a good chuckle at yours Babushka doll !!
The cranberry tip is a great one as is the prescription to take away.
